That's great but what's the contest? The longest paragraph is the one begging for donations...

It's a slow smoke contest. Everyone gets 3.3 grams of tobacco, two matches, one minute to light. Whoever smokes the longest wins the grand prize. Additionally, the top ten smokers usually get really nice prizes. Consolation prizes for everyone else. I couldn't figure out how to attach the type of file the flyer was saved as, so I just pasted it into the message field here. The flyer is also sent out to distributors and manufacturers in hopes of having them donate prizes, which is SOP for these types of events. However, I am not soliciting anything from anyone. I just wanted to make that clear. I am merely a club member passing on the info.

Thanks for the clarification, MrJeff. The contest sounds interesting however I'd also like to see a fast smoke contest.

Believe it or not, they have those too. Over in England they use clay pipes instead of briar pipes to see who can smoke the fastest. I think I've seen a video of it on youtube or someplace.

In my experience with pipe smoking so far two matches wouldn't get the damn thing lit.

Never mind a pipe, there are plenty of cigars that I can't get lit with two matches!

That's half the battle right there, a proper light. You think all is going well until they give the ten second warning and you realize you haven't lit your second match yet. My personal best time was 48 minutes and change. But that's not good enough, some of the guys in the club can go nearly an hour and a half. Club record is over two hours.
