So my business received a letter from the City of Tucson...
Absolutely fantastic job there, Government - you spent $0.44 to notify me that you owe me $0.01... keep up the good work.
I had something like that happen with an Fed return for my wife. About 8 letters of correspondence, my time on the phone with accountant, his time, and theirs...all for 12 dollars.
They LOST or could not locate the return. They only knew that 12 dollars was transacted. Not even if they paid or we paid. is right.
Buzz, they should just have someone like you reviewing case by case and pressing a big red "delete" button.

I had the pleasure of working for the IRS many moons ago. I was a Remittance Perfection Clerk. Basically, anything that had a letter attached, or a check for a filing without a signature, wrong amounts, mixing up personal w/ business returns etc. was sorted and forwarded accordingly by us. I got to see some really interesting shit there and notices for less money than a postage stamp like this and the resulting angry correspondence were all too common.
Mama said a lot of things and be thankful was the one she never minded saying twice
