I also need to get a new belt sander.
Doesn't the battery always run out of juice at inappropriate times? I don't own a belt sander - I can never keep the sandpaper on the belt evenly, it always comes off on one side or the other. What brand do you have?

Yes the battery runs out but with my old cordless (which died) I had two batteries so on the larger projects where battery life was an issue the battery swap seemed to work out pretty well. Plus, dead battery = beer break.

I had a very old craftsman that worked pretty well (it finally died though). The deck needs to be sanded again so I need to pick up a new one. I have a Ryobi orbital that works well.

Yeah, but that's usually why they give you two batteries and a portable charger.

Shit, I missed buzz's similar retort.

Damn, I should have made that another post.

My Pops has one of those shopsmith thingies that turns into 5 or 6 things....surprisingly enough, it functions reasonably well at all the things it does. The planer attachment is pretty cool, and the drill press works very well as does the disk sander. I'm not worth a shit on the lathe, though I can produce huge tooth-pick replicas astoundingly well.

I'm good at gouging a huge chunck out of a nearly finished piece, while jumping back with cat-like reflexes to avoid said piece.

I try similar feats with the fence on the table saw and a piece kicks back at me.
