I've been looking at a Samsung Galaxy S, anybody here have one? I could use some feedback from someone other than reviews I've been reading. I'll also gladly take suggestions on some other phones too.

My! What a nice ash you have!
No matter where you go, there you are!
I just bought a new phone last Friday and actually was considering the Samsung Captivate (which I understand is AT&T's name for the Galaxy)...
It looked to be a very nice phone- the features and capabilities that the salesmen showed me were pretty impressive, and that along with the feedback from friends who love their droid phones, I was really considering it.
While the screen size of the Captivate looked great at first glance, I thought about it and realized it was quite a bit bigger than what I wanted so I went with an iphone 4. This is my first smartphone as I have been dragging my heels for years, but it's been great so far. Battery life isn't that great while 3G is turned on, but it's still good enough for me.
What network are you on?
This will be my first one too...I'm coming from an old Razr flip. From what I've read in reviews, everyone is complaining about the battery life, but I don't think that'll be a big issue with me as I'll probably not be using the internet that much. This is my first smartphone as I have been dragging my heels for years, but it's been great so far. I'm with T-Mobile but probably not much longer after the convo I had with them. They have a unlimited talk/text/data plan for 79.99 but so does the other company and they have the same phone 30 bucks cheaper.

I have had my Galaxy S for about a month...Almost flawless. It did freeze up once due to an app I installed. I uninstalled the app and back to normal. The only real problem is battery life. I have to re-charge every day.
It's fast...Surfing the net is a breeze. I have a few apps installed that help me at work. The screen is large and is really easy to see with the exception of direct bright sunlight. Graphics are outstanding.
I'd buy it again.

Just got through talking to Cellular South...they're they ones that have the phone cheaper. I found out why it was cheaper...it's 3g not 4g...not a deal breaker though. Also, their talk/text/data plan is the same as Tmobile but with a second line it drops to 39.99.

Here's what you need:
TBSCigars - "On Holiday"Grammar - It's the difference between knowing your crap and knowing you're crap.
I would gladly use one of those. Do they make it in wireless? I would hate it if I had to strap 30 miles of extension cords to the back of my motorcycle.
Oh, and just an FYI, there is no such thing as 4g. It is a marketing gimmick.
Wait a minute; isn't the 'g' for generation? So it's the 4th update, or "generation" of the wireless network?
ETA: I wiki'ed '4g' and while I do know wiki isn't necessarily the most trusted source, it seemed to make sense.
WIKI:
The nomenclature of the generations generally refers to a change in the fundamental nature of the service, non-backwards compatible transmission technology, and new frequency bands. New generations have appeared about every ten years since the first move from 1981 analog (1G) to digital (2G) transmission in 1992. This was followed, in 2001, by 3G multi-media support, spread spectrum transmission and at least 200 kbit/s, in 2011 expected to be followed by 4G, which refers to all-IP packet-switched networks, mobile ultra-broadband (gigabit speed) access and multi-carrier transmission.[citation needed]
The fastest 3G based standard in the WCDMA family is the HSPA+ standard, which was commercially available in 2009 and offers 28 Mbit/s downstreams without MIMO, i.e. only with one antenna (it would offer 56 Mbit/s with 2x2 MIMO), and 22 Mbit/s upstreams. The fastest 3G based standard in the CDMA2000 family is the EV-DO Rev. B, which was available in 2010 and offers 15.67 Mbit/s downstreams.[citation needed]
In mid 1990s, the ITU-R organization specified the IMT-2000 specifications for what standards that should be considered 3G systems. However, the cell phone market only brands some of the IMT-2000 standards as 3G (e.g. WCDMA and CDMA2000), but not all (3GPP EDGE, DECT and mobile-WiMAX all fulfil the IMT-2000 requirements and are formally accepted as 3G standards, but are typically not branded as 3G). In 2008, ITU-R specified the IMT-Advanced (International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced) requirements for 4G systems

Bah! tl;dr
I don't know enough about it to tell you anything. All I know is that my brother told me there is no such thing. Then when I googled "4g doesn't exist" all sorts of crud came up.
Honestly, I don't care. I have an old phone that is just a phone. I was just trying to sound like I knew what I was talking about. lol
I prefer a cell phone i can leave laying out in the rain for a few days and it still works.

Like mine. I have the GZone. It is waterproof, shock proof and dust proof. I jumped in a pool with it in my pocket. Not a problem.

Your brother told you? Well my sister told me there's no such thing as the tooth fairy and we all know she's full of shit.
Maybe you should have tacked on the ol' "in my opinion" you assured us all you would be so liberal with.
Hell, maybe if you didn't care, you should have kept your fucking mouth shut.

4G refers to the generation of the technology as hefty said.
Yay! Cigars!
Woah! my bad. I am sorry I offended you. I thought this was a light hearted discussion, and I admitted I could be wrong. I am sorry I forgot the "in my opinion". Shit happens. No need to get so heated up.
Just FYI, I didn't think it was my opinion. I heard it from my brother and googled it. It seemed legit, so I posted it. I am going to post the lmgtfy. Not to be sarcastic or a jerk, just so you can see what I saw.
