Thread: Cigar box left in the sun?

  1. Default Cigar box left in the sun?

I just ordered some cigars from Cigars International, and I got home today to find that the mailman had left the box sitting on my porch all day, with the sun beating down on it. I opened the box to find the cigars were warm to the touch (not hot, but noticeably warm).
I immediately put the ones that will fit in my humidor at 70//70. Will these be ok? If so, how long should I leave them in my humidor to get rid of any negative affects of the warmth?
*Also, should I leave the cigars in the individual plastic packages they are wrapped in, or take them off when I put the cigars in my humidor?
    Thanks!!

Does your user name reference masturbation?

    Your cigars will be fine.

Cigars should be fine. Prolonged exposure to the sun isn't the greatest on cigars but one day is not going to kill them. I would just make note of it and maybe wait to order until a cooler month.

In all seriousness - If the cigars warmed enough to hatch any tobacco beetle eggs, you'll soon find out why I recommend getting those cigars into the freezer as soon as possible and keep them there for at least 10 days.

How about boiling them in hot water for three minutes? That should kill any beetles, right?

The eggs are mint. The hatched beetles are chocolate.

And, well, you can guess where the leather comes from.

Mint...Chocolate...are you smoking a cigar, or a York peppermint patty??

I thought that one of them tasted like mint, just couldn't remember which one.

I smoked a cigar once that tasted like leather and smelled like my work boots.
And my work boots are made of leather....very interesting.

Dang Paddy, if you are smoking cigars that smell like your work boots, it might be time to switch brands.
