$2 a stick? Man - I haven't touched one of those in an awfully long time!

I'd suggest you look in the $5-7 range. There's quite a nice selection in that price range. To start you off - if you liked the Counterfeit Cubans, pick up a few Rocky Patel "Edge" cigars. You can't go wrong.

    Welcome!

Welcome to the board! Thanks for introducing yourself. I would tend to agree that spending a bit more and smoking a bit less will greatly improve your experience. Welcome from Eastern Oregon.

    welcome to the forum.

$2 cigars are more in the line of yard gars, I smoke a lot of them at work but cant really recommend them.
Give the newbie sampler some thought, its a good way to try some decent cigars to find out what you like.

Thanks for all of the welcomes,

I would love to up my budget, but I am a poor college student (sound the violin).

I have been searching through the forum reviews, but they have no prices listed, and thus everything that sounds amazing is (what I would consider to be) very expensive.

I have also signed up for a couple web sites and get emails about cigar deals, and have been searching them against reviews, however- i have noticed that nearly every review you find praises almost every cigar (except for these forums). For instance, the La Auroras, everything I have read was positive, but everything here is more on the negative side, one person even said to stay away from them. So, what are your thoughts on the La Auroras, specifically the Barrel aged (they are on sale ) http://www.cigarsinternational.com/p...BB5743&cat=216

Do any of you have recommendations of decent yard cigars?

Most, if not all, online retailers have a wide variety of samplers at very good prices. I've found a few of my regulars in those samplers. I've always been skeptical of reviews found on retailer sites. Salesmen will say anything to make a sale. As mentioned above though, look into the Newbie Sampler thread on this board. You'll get a customized sampler for your tastes and budget that have several advantages over store-bought samplers. I'm waiting on one myself and really looking forward to it.
