Ok everyone I thought I would share my green house project with all of you. The reason for the green house is very very simple as you can see below.
Needless to say this little bugger has ruined our gardens. We live next to a golf course and have a herd of deer at our disposal. This one was eating lunch while we were eating lunch, just feet away from each other. This flower bed being outside our dining room window. Thanks to some work, sweat and tears now the buffet for the Deer is closed.
Starting the frame was the most difficult. But with a few extra hands the main supports were up. I had some difficulty getting it squared up, largely because of some of the on hand materials I was using. However I did get some help and experienced knowledgeable people to help me on that.
Here the main frame is up including roof and supports. The windows are actually from the church in Burns where I Pastor, since they had gotten new windows for the church, I was able to have the ones they took out.
Here is the front door and front window. As you can see I have the 6 mil. plastic up in place. It is our plan and intention to cover the green house with more permanent type covering. But we will have to wait a year or two.
Here is the completed outer shell. I have to configure and build the inside with my shelving and do some work to give it a heat sink and potting table. My hope is to be able to grow year round in this eventually. The size is 14' wide, 14' high, 18' long. This is sitting with the windows facing East and West. The new green house is sitting where I did have 4 raised bed gardens. With any luck at all I should be growing most of what I need for veggies, lettuce and yes eventually tobacco. Looking forward to trying it out. Will give you and update after I get the inside complete. Roger.
