I don't get it... It seems to me that CoventryCat86 is not necessarily badmouthing people ("trash talking" as you put it). You have to be really special to make this list..

And as long as we're discussing fake cubans, this is a good read too... http://forums.cigarweekly.com/viewto...340&highlight=

I'm not "trash talking" people but you certainlly are. I'm merely pointing out facts about Oblik's fake cigars and his sloppy spelling and grammar.

This particular quote really stands out to me...

    WOW..
I JUST GOT DEJAVU SEEING THOSE PICS.

I was on another board a while back. It was our very first box pass. In the pass this same guy put in an esplendido. When I received the pass I really wanted to grab this cigar..but upon further inspection it was a suspect cigar.

Being the botl that I am i replcaed the esplendido with a premium stick. I did not want any other guys who were less familiar with habanos and COhibas to end up getting burned.

I inspected the cigar and noticed that the color was off..the usual Cohiba smell was not there and that the triple cap was not clean or very evident..also the cigar was very rough looking. ALso the band was very bad looking.

I posted my initial thoughts and pic up on another board and the concencus from most member was that it was 100% fake. I figured I would give him the benefit of doubt so I put the COhiba away for a while..so as to let it recover from travel. Well one day i reached into the HUMI and lit this up.. It was the most horrific Cohiba experience I had ever experienced.. it burned hot..burned uneven..smoke was noxious...and it tasted like crap.. not even close to a COhiba..

I pm'd this guy and asked him to make sure his CANADIAN source was reliable he assured me it was.. SO I left it alone. If he was 100% sure he was getting real habanos than there was no sense arguing.

At first I felt bad for him ..because I thought he was buying fake cigars and did not realize this due to his lack of smoking habanos..but after reading this thread and reading the other thread he so eagerly locked..leads me to beleive this guy knowingly thries to pass off fakes as legitimate cigars in order to obtain real or premium cigars..

This is not good.. In the future I know i would never trade or join any pass he is in..

Dave I hope you and him work something out..ALso if you want I can e-mail you the pics I took of my fake..alongside my cigars..

Just because someone is a moderator or a good guy on other boards does not mean they are 100% stand up guys!!
Edited for spelling errors - sorry CoventryCat86

I'd also like to add that everyone can get burned by fake Cubans - there's a ton of them out there. These discussions are VERY important to persons interested in the collecting and smoking of cigars. Certainly, everyone on this board does not want to be ripped off by receiving something they think is legit, only to later learn it was fake. Especially when substantial dollars are involved. Why the heck did AmishBob post this thread to begin with? Is it possible that he was looking for legit answers to his question about how to spot a fake? Or maybe some of you think this is a high-five, back-slap - touchy-feely, feel good kinda thread where no "trash-talking" should be allowed, because, God forbid, someone might be offended because they don't REALLY know the truth and it might bruise their ego.

The next point I'd like to make - we all make mistakes. I've made my share, as I am sure everyone else on this board has. But, when someone points out the mistake, and the "mistake" continues, what would we call that? Sure - we can debate about our stash of cigars, and how "legit" they are. Someone (most call a "know-it-all") can come in and irritate the heck out of you because they "know" what you have is not real. That's really irritating. But what happens when you start hearing it from all sides?

There is an individual on another cigar board who believed he had legit Cubans. He traveled to Cuba and bought them direct from the factory. They were, for all practical purposes, "legit" Cubans. After all, the were made in Cuba using Cuban tobacco. But, they were banded as "Cohiba's" - certainly for the express purpose of making a handsome profit for those who sold them. And they smoked like crap. This member sent samples to a bunch of members, with mixed reviews. Enough complained, and the member took notice. He apologized for his misunderstanding and promised to make it good.

So, why is it that some are "trash talking" a member when he is sending out fake Cubans? Clearly, enough have sampled the product and pointed out to him they are fake. Shouldn't he also apologize and learn from the experience? Or is it better to lock the thread and have other members "trash talk" those that are pointing out the problem?

You do what you want. I want to know that what I smoke is legit, and I heavily rely on those that are "trash talking" to provide and honest assessment - and deal with those that would take advantage of "US" (YOU and ME).

As far as spelling errors - rather than trash talk CoventryCat86, work on it! The best thing you can learn to do is to communicate properly. This is a GREAT place to start. You are judged by what you write - live with it. Because if you don't know it, your peers, bosses, clients, whatever, are laughing and pointing out your grammar and spelling in your communications to others (behind your back). It could cost you a promotion, or your job. I can't tell you how many employment applications I've seen tossed STRICTLY because there are spelling errors sprinkled throughout.

A friendly PM would of done the trick. He was just trying to make a moderator look bad.

You guys might want to read that thread. Please keep ISOM trading in private. This is a great example of what happens when you buy/sell/trade illegal products. Anyone can get burned easily, including this community.

I'm closing this thread because it just isn't going anywhere. I don't like finger pointing. I don't like the trash talking. I want to keep this place a friendly community - Period.
