My first and brand new humidor video

Like I said in my introduction. I am new, very new to cigars smoking/collecting . I made a video and I know I was kinda nervous so I know I made a lot of mistakes on the video. I would like to know what recommendations you would give a newbie like myself, who is just starting with cigars.

I already purchased some cigars, hoping that I like them. I will make a video of them as soon as I get them for you all to watch and again, so you can correct me and teach me.

I started with the exact same humidor and liked it a lot.

First and foremost, don't rely on that lousy analog hygrometer. Mine never worked right and I'd wager yours never will either. Just leave it where it is (it looks nice I think) and ignore it.

While I haven't used humidity beads yet myself, all the guys on here who do swear by them. I know eventually my 500 count humi will fill and I'll have to expand to a 'coolerador' and at that point I will buy beads. If you use the search function here and search Heartfelt Beads I'm sure you'll find some info. Searching that string on google will get you to their website. I would recommend buying an appropriate amount (I believe the company's website itself will tell you how to calculate what you need for your humi) and using them.

Beads would also negate the need fo a hygrometer but if you're like me, you like to have one to look at. I prefer the Caliber III digital hygrometer's but there are a lot out there so if you want one, I'd start checking out some different ones.

Your video mentions a humidity pack. You don't put that in your humidifier, I'd suggest just laying it on the bottom of your humidor and leave it there. When I was actively using that humi, I used the humidifier that came with the unit. It worked OK, but I was planning on replacing it with beads when my wife surprised me with a 500 count humi.

With regard to this site, I recommend a lot of reading and research and liberal use of the search function. When I first joined I spent a lot of time reading reviews of different cigars.

Finally, you should take a look at doing a "Newbie Sampler" ....or several. They're a great way to try some different cigars from people who've been doing this a while.

Wow.... Thank you so much for the information. I knew I said things wrong on the video. I was not sure of things. I barely know the names of the sizes on cigars. I am already starting to browse the forums and using the search bar as well.

I did notice the hygrometer is not a good one and I am looking at a small, digital one to put in there. I have seen liquids for the humidifier, gel beads (of some sort) but I don't think I've seen the ones you mentioned. Can they be those gel containers that have little gel beads/crystals in them?

If it was a link from youtube, then I'm sorry. That is however, my video (I know it sucks). When someone replies with something as just a link with nothing said, then that's how I see it. But now I apologized because you said that's what youtube returned and was not you messing around.

That website I created for friends not long ago, but I guess there's people joining to share their stuff. I created it for friends because I personally collect many things, not just cigars.....lol

I like collecting things too!!! Cigars, for the most part - but I do have other collections as well. For example - I did have a Yugo collection at one point. I gave up me prized Yugo to some guy wanting to trade a bank safe filled with cigars. I sent him my end - but never heard back on his end. You can best believe I gave him a bad trader rating - It was definitely a very painful moment, I don't need to tell you. I don't think I'll ever fully recover - it was quite a downer...

...but I hate to digress. From what I've seen around here - the guys are pretty much open to trading all sorts of things. I'm thinking we have other collectors that might be interested in your site as well!

Well ggiese, the site is there and whom ever collects multiple things is more than welcome to share their stuff. It has friendly people and is also another place to learn about other collectibles.

That said, I appreciate the little help I have gotten here thus far. I think our misunderstanding got me in more trouble....lol but I'll make peace with myself and let those attack me for joy and pleasure.

Ya know - now that you mention it... When YouTube linked Samuel L. Jackson's rendition of "Go the F**K to Sleep", I wondered what the connection was.

I've often wonder when I see those connections - is that "ignorance" or "genius"?
