Introduction

Hello all! I'm very new to the forum especially since I just signed up early this morning. I've been lingering around here for a few days as a guest, and decided to go ahead and sign up.

A little bit about myself: I'm a college student, and a fairly new guy to the cigar world. I've been smoking cigars since my 18th birthday, which was last August. The story for my username "Playboy2011" is, because Playboy was the first cigar I had ever smoked, and 2011 for the year I first go into cigars. What got my into cigars was from growing up watching movies particularly Civil War movies like Gettysburg, and seeing the men smoking cigars. I always thought to myself "I'm going to have one for my 18th birthday", because I always was facinated by the culture and tradition of cigars and tobacco. Especially, because I'm from, and live in Virginia, so I have always felt like tobacco and cigars were part of my heritage. Not to mention my grandfather smoked cigars on a daily basis, and I always had the image of tradition/heritage engraved in my mind. I had my first cigar, which was a Playboy in toro size (I believe) with my brother. My brother and family thought I was nuts, because they thought I would get sick from it, but instead I instantly fell in love with it and cigars. Now that I've been a cigar smoker for 10 months or so (if my math is right). Now that I have seen how cigars are made I truely have a deep understanding and appriciation for cigars.

Also as I have a question that I wanted to ask (I know I'm digressing a bit). Does anyone know what the charateristics of a Peruvian filler is? That's one of the tobaccos in the filler of the Playboy, and I cannot find any information on the Peruvian filler charateristics.

This is what I've had so far: Montecristo White, Montecristo Yellow, Montecristo (not sure what it's specifically called), Romeo y Julieta 1875, Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real, Rocky Patel American Market Select, Rocky Patel Renaissance, Arturo Fuente Double Chateau, Oliva Cain 654T Habano, Cubano No.4, and Antano 1970 Alisado. The last three I got from a sampler pack from Famous Smoke's website. I plan on going to my local cigar shop, and picking up some cigars. Some of the cigars I had in mind were the Edge by Rocky Patel (maduro, Corojo, Sumatra, and possibly candela), the Vintage 1992 by Rocky Patel, the Renaissance by Rocky Patel (I really enjoyed the first one I had), probably an H Upmann, and possibly another Rocky Patel or two. I'll also probably by another Arturo Fuente when Carlito Fuente's at my local shop for their in store event next week. Do you, or anyone else have some suggestions on what to try?

Hands down - get the Fuente Opus X or the Anejo's.

I just finished reading your review. You did a superlative job on explaining the flavor profile. I'll definately take the Padron 3000 into consideration this Saturday while I'm at my local shop. I'm still figuring out my tastes, but thus far I have found I like coffee and cedar. My liking of the coffee really suprises me, because I absolutely hate coffee. Like the saying goes "Don't knock it till you try it."
