Box of Cubans - Pinar P3000 - Anyone Want any?

Just got a box. I Like them, but a whole box is a bit much for me. This is more of a once a month cigar for me. I am willing to trade or sell. Up for any offers, just let me know. I would like to branch out and try some more cubans. Let me know.

Bad form, bad form. Your first post on a forum is for a trade/sell of "cuban cigars." How about you come in, get to know us, we get to know you, you do many trades and box splits with domestic stuff we can guarantee legitimacy on and build your reputation, then, maybe, just maybe (after many months of this) we'd consider something like your offer.

Ah, thanks for the info, will try that. Btw, what are your opinions on the Pinar 3000. A local shop sold them to me as cubans. I did a lot of research and it looks like they are, just not sure how much if any pre embargo tabaco is in them. I read that link another user posted in a previous topic about Pinar cigars, about how to look for fake cubans. But would this apply because they are from the US? Need advice for some more experienced and knowledgable smokers here.

That sucks. Thanks for the Info though. I doubt I would be warmly welcomed if i tried to return them. Does anybody have any sugjections on how I could get them to take them back. Maybe some articles on real pre-embargo cigars and what the seal on one of the boxes would look like? According to that article on how to detect a fraud cuban I found at least 10 things wrong.

At the time I posted for sale or trade i thought they were real, then i did a search in the forums for Pinar. I got a link to the following article: http://www.cigarnexus.com/counsel/co...eit/index.html Right away i could tell something was up. Looks like me and my good friend are both out of luck. You will laugh even harder when i tell you how much i paid for them. ....... 17$ a cigar .... 20 in a box ... I will let you do the math.

This is the story of Pinar cigars:

We are now proud to carry the Pinar pre-embargo Cuban tobacco cigars from Puros de Armando Ramos. If you have always wanted to try a Cuban cigar now's your chance - legally! The story of this Cuban tobacco is quite interesting. When Puros de Armando Ramos acquired this pre-embargo Cuban tobacco in 1999 it was the buy of a lifetime. More than 46000 pounds of well-preserved Cuban tobacco from 1956,1958, and 1960 was bought from the estate of Murray "Big G" Grossman a cigar maker in Tampa in the 1940s, 50s and 60s. After the embargo was declared on Cuban goods by President Kennedy in 1962, all shipments of Cuban tobacco were stopped. Mr. Grossman filed for bankruptcy in the mid 60s and his inventories of tobacco were liquidated by the court but before this was complete Mr. Grossman died. During the intervening years and court actions judges ordered that the tobacco be kept in salable condition with frequent inspections.

I know of a few shops that sell these, some very good shops at that. The legitimacy of the story is questionable though. And Agawawe, the guide to fakes would not apply in this case since the tobacco is supposedly pre-embargo Cuban tobacco, so it is not illegal and so rolled somewhere, who knows where, and can be brought in and out of the United States without a problem. It is thus not a product of Cuba, and all that applies to finding counterfeit cubans would not matter. The question then becomes one of legitimacy on behalf of the company that produces these cigars. Oh, and the price of 17 per cigar is a rip. My shops had them at around 8-11 dollars a pop for singles.

I believe Bigpoppapuff might have an answer for us about Pinars, so we will await his word...

the owner of the brand,paul magier,is a friend of mine.....my local tinder box (and,i guess,all tb's) have just picked up the entire line....some of his customers are very impressed with the cigar.
is it pre-embargo tobacco??.......the embargo was 1962,if i recall....
.....paul has made some pretty good cigars that i've bought directly from him...and with well over 5000 cigars..i don't need to buy 'em......he also has made some cigars that i didn't care for........
.....paul has taken a lot of heat on many bb's.......he seems to have thick skin and is a strong marketing guy.....
do i think there's pre-embargo cuban tobacco in his cigars??......i'd say no....
but i'm certain that paul would insist that there is......

the retailer should be ashamed of himself for selling the cigar as a cuban....even with the dog & pony act.....

I think it's a nice cigar. The construction is very nice. The draw is a bit on the tight side, but very nice (very much like a real Cuban). The flavor was nice... Definitely a respectable cigar...

Is it worth $17? I don't think so.... Do I think there's Cuban tobacco in there? I really don't care - because if there is, it didn't really taste like it to me... I did like it slightly better than the Gurkha pre-embargo's...

I just picked one of these up the other day as a suggestion from one of my local retailers (when the shopkeep seems to know what he's doing, I like to ask for a suggestion).

He was calling them "legal cubans" and gave a short version of the story BigMacFU told... I bought one that's probably a toro size, paid $10.50, which seems reasonable. Haven't tried it yet, though...

As far as Cuban tobacco goes... I have a feeling there's SOME in there, somewhere. Mostly just because it's a national brand and not someone selling "cubans" out of his basement..

Just kidding, we try but there are some of our "critics" out there who think that some of us are just a buncha mean, bullies who like to pick on people for no good reason.

Ya just bought into a salesman's line of BS which I'm sure almost all of us have done at one time or another in our lives whether it be a used car salesman, a guy selling hand tools "just like Snap-On for HALF the price", etc.

If you like the cigars then fine. I would offer that there are plenty of better cigars out there for that kind of money and REAL Cuban cigars actually taste like well, REAL Cuban Cigars!

Tinderbox is a franchise, meaning owners stock Whatever they want. PG is considered a dirt bag to the cigar community to alot of people, and personally, I've tried the pinars and they were just shitty. sorry.
