Default Arturo Fuente Anejo ~ #77 ~ Sand Shark

Smoke: Arturo Fuente Anejo ~ #77 (Sand Shark)
Drink: Sierra Nevada ~ Pale ale
    Tunes: Misc. Spotify
    Date Smoked: 7/5/12

    Wrapper: Cameroon
    Binder: ???
    Filler: Anejo blend (Dominican)
    Draw: Medium
    Burn: Good
    Misc: n/a

Pre-light: Colorado – claro shade wrapper. Signature torpedo end that morphs into a box press at foot. Nice construction. Light tobacco scent. Sweet tobacco ring on cut prelight taste.

Light: Surprisingly took some effort to get lit, and a solid medium draw.

1st 3rd: Oily and bitter / spicy notes off the bat. Pepper spice dominant. Musty sweet tobacco in background. Mellowing into a twangy cammy wrapper taste. Light to medium body.

Ash: Light gray. Stacks well with tiny ash bubbles. Holds on for 2”

2nd 3rd: Unfortunately, I’m having some wrapper issues. Cameroons are fragile. I’ll smoke through it. Nice unsweetened tea, oil, tobacco flavors. Almost creamy except for the oil bite. Delicate & interesting.

3rd 3rd: Oily twang is lighter, but still there. Nice balance of sweet and oil bitter. Again, mild profile, relaxing and very enjoyable.

Overall impression: Very interesting HTF cigar.

Thank you for including this on a trade, he who shall not be named…

Nice review, Cameroons are always annoyingly finicky to me.

Yep, nice review. I'm beginning to think that cammy's don't age as well either, seems as if they lose a little something.

Great review Wil. My experience with Fuente canmmies is hit and miss. IMHO Aurora cranks out the best cammie stick,Preferedios #1 is one of the best

This was my very first Anejo. I remember thinking at first it was going to be this big, bold stick that would knock me on my ass. So not the case. It's one of two Anejos my local carries (no limit!) in season - I like them.

Thanks for the review Will. I love Anejo's but I have yet to try that one.

Good review, Will. Is there a notable difference flavorwise between the Sand Shark and the regular #77?

Yes, very much. The "normal" Connecticut maduro line to me, really showcases the cognac barrel aged tobacco. The Sand Shark, we have here is mellower, and of course showcases the Cameroon wrapper. Both are outstanding. One is really, really hard to find.

    Again, another really special thanks

Hmmm....my mistake. Seems I've only had the regular #77. Odd, though, they wouldn't give it it's own number.
