    Default Frustration!!!

I bought this truck new from the dealer in 2006; it had 7 miles on it. Not a single problem with it until Thursday. Just driving to pick up some materials and it started going crazy....shaking like it was gonna stall, check engine light flashing, wouldn't move. Downtown Atlanta, right in front of Bobby Dodd stadium (GA Tech). Held up an already VERY congested street. Thankfully after a few minutes it started and I was able to drive her into The Varsity. Tinkered around and found nothing out of sorts. After about 30 minutes I was gonna call a wrecker when she started right up, drove her home and thought all was well. Yesterday went back to the job with no problems, but only got a block and a half away. Not gonna risk the drive on 75 this time, hence the tow truck.

The mechanic cannot figure out the problem, but I believe I did. Apparently there is fairly common problem with what's called the IPDM (Intelligent Power Distribution Module). Gonna go pick her up from the mechanic, grab the IPDM from the stealership and install myself on Monday. Fingers crossed.

Oh, and the car rental place brought me a powder blue volkswagen passat. Man, I want my truck back somethin' fierce!!!!

Too bad they didn't give you a pink passat.

Yes and no. I installed the IPDM on Monday. She started right up and ran (runs) like a champ. Yesterday though, the "Service Engine" light showed up and is still lit. Hopefully, it's just in need of a reset. We'll see. I'll head to the stealership sometime tomorrow to find out what the error code is; if I get a chance.

I have a 2006 titan also.I love the truck besides the durn gas mileage. The only time it went back to the stealership was to replace the rear axle seal on two diffrent occasions. My truck loves to eat rotors up also ,when I researched it seemed to be a common problem with the titans.

Yeah, usually the code "sticks" for a certain number of starts. You could disconnect the battery, and then re-connect it and that should clear the codes.

Huh. I will definitely try that little hard reset idea in the morning. Makes sense, and I bet you just saved me a ton of time...Thanks.

Knock on wood, all I've had to do was change the oil and put gas in her. Oh yeah, there was this little problem of breaking down in midtown Atlanta also.

Gas mileage is not great, but believe it or not I get better mileage than my buddy who drives a Frontier...and way better mileage than a friend with an F-150.

Let it unhooked for maybe 30 seconds. Don't just take it off, and instantly put it back on. Kinda like when you have to kill the power to your motherboard. You wait until the speakers click, or the light on the board goes off.

However, I just remembered it sometimes can be annoying to triple post. Try and avoid that.

Pick up a cheap code reader just make sure it works with your truck.
Most of the code readers let you clear the code.

I picked up mine form newegg for $30
designated whipping boy for the grammar police
Just run everything threw a spell checker.

Mine's actually an '05. The new ones came out so I figured it was a good time to make a deal.

The only vehicle I'm used to working on has no computer chips whatsoever. I really think this is gonna work.
