Default Oliva Blue Cloth Label (‘O’ Ovation Maduro)

Smoke: Oliva Blue Cloth Label (‘O’ Ovation Maduro)
    Drink: Founders Red’s Rye PA
Tunes: Yacht Rock aka Toto & Eagles
    Date Smoked: 1-4-14

    Wrapper: Connecticut
    Binder: Nicaraguan
    Filler: Nicaraguan
    Draw: Medium to light
    Burn: Good
    Misc.: Nothing recorded.

Pre-light: Maduro – Oscuro wrapper. Obviously the cloth band with gold lettering is impressive. The wrapper appears to have suffered some damage, but I’ll work it… Look at that vintage cello. Must keep that for some later salez. Wrapper much darker than filler. Nice construction, strong leather smell and leather taste on cut.

Light: Easy with a Bic lighter. Medium to light draw.

1st 3rd: Nice creamy leathery right off the bat. Oily, but not a bitter oil. Woodsy too. I can’t emphasize the mellow creaminess of this enough. Still, some oil and leather aftertaste kick.

Ash: Disjointed and flakey. Mostly white. Holds for 1 ½”

2nd 3rd: Same profile. Leather, oil but beautifully smooth and creamy. I’ll be getting into wrapper damage here. Hope it works out.

3rd 3rd: Into the blowout. Amazingly after the wrapper break, same profile. Creamy, woodsy, leather, smooth and some oily aftertaste. Burned through the busted part, and back to a perfect burn. So glad I grabbed this tonight.

Overall impression: Well done Oliva, well done.

An anonymous thanks for this gem…

I still have one of those left floating around in my cooler. I liked the O Bolds with the red velvet wrapper better, they had a Habano 2000 dark natural wrapper. I really wish Oliva hadn't stopped making these......

I had the pleasure of getting one of these as a gift and smoked it last spring. I loved it.

So far, everything I've tried of Oliva's I've thoroughly enjoyed..........I'm putting this on my "watch out for these" list in hopes of trying one. I'm also putting the one CC mentioned on that list too!

    Nice review Will...........thanks!

Mmmmmmm...yes. If you found some and deemed me worthy of sharing I would purchase them, or trade for some real shitty stuff I have.
