Cool Wounded Warrior Event - Quad State Herf XI August 6th

Good morning Cigar Smokers. Below is the post that I started last Sunday and was filled by Monday morning. I know that there are a few regulars that have joined us in the past. Let me know if you'd like to attend and I'm sure we have room for you. As you can see, I always put a +10 next to my name for this reason.

Well, it's that time to announce this year's Quad State Herf - Wounded Warrior fund raiser. The date will be Saturday, August 6th from 1000 (10am) until dusk (roughly 2000/8pm) and the location is West Point's Recreational Area - Lake Frederick (new location this year). There is camping available at this rec center as well as you can see in the website posted below. It will be a day of relaxing, enjoying great BBQ (prepared by Sean Keever and his crew - Big Guns BBQ) and a number of outdoor events, i.e., volleyball, horse shoes, swimming, kayaking and much more.

The cost to attend this year's Quad State Herf is $75.00 per person (same as last year). The benefit of the event again this year will be "Wings for Warriors" http://wingsforwarriors.org/ as well as the “Hudson Valley Honor Flight” http://hvhonorflight.com/.

As always, each guest will receive a very nice "goodie bag" and there will be plenty of stuff being raffled off at the event.
Below is the address for Lake Frederick as well as their website:

1849 Lake Frederick Rd, Central Valley 10930

    Charlie,

Can you put me down for 4? Three of them don't need goodie bags (wife and kids) Possible it will be downgraded to just me and my little girl, like last year.

You got it Will, check out the new location if you already haven't done so. Easy to get to and we have the entire area to ourselves. Camping is top notch and all.......

No problem Craig, I'll add you to the list. I just wanted to let you know we are at another West Point recreation area. Plenty of camping, I'll check on power for you and all. Check out the link for Lake Frederick along with the directions (easier to get to as well).

Probably not, unless he's flying the Enola Gay. How are the landing strips at the new spot?

Very nice landing strip indeed. Plenty of flat ground and trees where shade is required. Bill could probably land it right on Lake Frederick Rd......

Thanks! It seems that the tent sites don't have water or electricity.

What sounds good is to reserve at least one of the A-Frames for $35/night -
    - the "scout" A-Frames have 15 army bunk beds, some 110-volt inside, 30 amp RV outside, outdoor grill, two picnic tables.
    - the "family" A-Frames have 6 bunk beds, fridge, kitchen table/chairs, outdoor grill, picnic table.

However, the website is kinda confusing - the "family" A-frames are being replaced by "scout" A-frames, but it isn't clear whether that process is complete or not. The "family" ones sound better, but, in any case, for $35/night, I'd want to be in either model!

Will, are you going to camp?

Yes, in some capacity. I'm trying to convince wifey and the crew to come, but it'll at least be me and Valorie again. She had a BLAST last year.

    Hello everyone,
Now that Memorial Day weekend has come to an end, it's time to put all efforts towards this year's event. In so, it's time to send your check / money order or cash in person which we'd like to get completed by the end of June. Please make your check / money order out in my name so I can disburse the funds appropriately. If you don't have my address, please message me and I'll reply immediately. Thank you all and enjoy your week.......

P.S. For all you tent campers: with the new location of the event, (Lake Frederick) camping is included on-site.

Well, we are less than 5 weeks out and things are coming along nice and smoothly. Payments are coming in, there are still a few that I have not received, so please send them in. Sponsors are sending cigars and swag now and we are getting things rolling locally as well. Enjoy your 4th weekend and be safe out there......
