Default My Herfin' buddy.....has left the building

Stan the Man....couldn't stay with us any longer, but he will forever be my avatar
He was 16, and my best herfin' buddy. He always had time, always wanted to share my beer, and loved me unconditionally, as I loved him!!
He had a seizure Friday evening, right at the foot of my recliner, from that moment until he took his last breath, he was in my or my wife's arms.
He was well loved, and will be dearly missed. He gave so much more than he got.
He's in a special spot in the corner of the garden, where he walked the rows right beside me.

    RIP Stanley!!

Sorry to hear that. It's cool you got to spend so many good years together. There's not much better in this world than a good dog. They are pretty amazing.

Damn sorry to hear about this Jamie. I know Stan meant a lot to you.

I myself lost my best friend Jasmine (also my avatar) this past Thanksgiving. She was almost 17. It's been very difficult, but things do get better.

    All my best,
    C

My buddy, my pal, my friend:
He suffered this indignity with a smile....

I know that's something for me in your hand:

So sorry to hear about your loss, Jamie - he was a beautiful dog.

There is no other critter like a dog and it's so painful when they leave us. Every time I lose my friend I wrestle in my heart about getting another one - I'm torn between that pain of losing them and imagining life without that unconditional companionship...

Sorry to hear the news Jamie.

I'm an animal lover and presently have two dogs. We had three but had to say goodbye to our Pug a year or so back and he was only 10 years old so I know all too well how tough it is.

Loved the pics.....thanks for sharing them!

    Thanks guys, appreciate the thoughts.

I've had dogs my entire life, this is the 2nd I've lost since I've been a member here.
Stan was, truly, a very special little man. Never an ounce of trouble, and always patient with his sister and us.
Always had a hug and kisses for us....and, no shit, that boy could jump in my lap and hug my fuckin' neck, hard!

You're absolutely right George....a wrestling match, but, I'm pretty sure of the winner. It will just take a bit.

Damn that sucks! I've lost a few over the years and it's always hard. I'm fortunate to have a wood shop and found turning/carving an urn for their ashes was always very cathartic.

I felt like winning 5 years in a row would be a little selfish of me.

Seriously? Maybe I understand all too well what Jamie's going through, and am hypersensitive right now, but let's not muddle this thread please. Show some respect.

Good to see old whipping snappers, and hope all is well with you buzz.

Not mad at ya beefy, I just know what Ash is going through. I'm all pent up inside with my own loss, and I truly appreciate the fact he has the balls to express himself a bit.

Great pictures of Stan, Jamie. He was definitely a character.

I have expressed my sympathies to Jamie, and they are very sincere. He is one of the members here that made me feel very welcome very early on and has continued to be great and I greatly appreciate him. I also love dogs and had to put one of mine down last year. Apologies if it seems like I was making light of this in any way.

It's just that I have enjoyed Buzz as well and he made a return in this particular thread. Not trying to derail the thread, just trying to say hi to a fun guy in a fun way. That's all.

No worries fellas....it's all good. Like I said, at least buzz posted again, so there's that.
I'm not sure if it's balls, more like an internal need to share....and you guys kinda new Stan since he's been stickin' his tongue out at you for damn near a decade.
    Yep, my boy!
