Whale, how do you prefer your Bourbon? I've tried it over ice, but I keep going back to sipping it straight. The cold temp seems to detract from the taste for me. I like it room temp.

Also, do you like Scotch? I keep trying on occasion, but I just can't seem to get into it. The harsh smoke bite seems to overpower everything else. Just doesn't do anything for me. Maybe I need to try something other than Johnny Walker Red? I just can't cant see spending the kind of money Glenlivet costs and not liking it. I'll just have to make my way to a bar again sometime I guess, or find a small bottle. Every time I've had Scotch I just kept thinking, "I could be having Bourbon".

Good Rum is my second favorite though. Don't mind that!

I prefer bourbon, or any good whisk(e)y room temp, in the winter, straight.

I love me some scotch, and actually if I had to choose on a desert island, easy choice, scotch. Bourbon is a little more bitey, where scotch is always smooth, peated or not.

If you want to try some different scotch or something less peaty, try The Balvinie or The Glenmorangie. Highland stuff is less peaty.
