Another Beginner Thread

Im thinking about going to the local cigar shop tomorrow and I want to get a suggestion.. The only type of cigars I have ever had are Black & Milds and Phillies, if those are even considered cigars here, lol.. I want a cigar that is somewhat mild and has good flavor.. Also something under $10, if possible..

Also, are there good cigars with flavors? I mean like Phillies with all their flavors..

Padron 2000. Try a few maduros and naturals. I am sure others would disagree, but for me, that is where everyone should start when first trying cigars.

Personally, I prefer Jose L. Piedra's for good, cheap Cuban's... But if you are in the U.S., I would recommend Romeyo Y Julieta Cedro de Luxe #2 for a good beginner smoke. Although some people may disagree with me, I find them to be a nice mild-medium bodied stogey.

Yep - I agree. A great smoke at a reasonable price! Sancho Panza's naturals are another in that same category - just be careful with the double maduro's - they are a bit of a powerhouse. May be overwhelming if you're new to cigar smoking.

Then try the Padron '26's or PAM '64 torpedo - you'll be hooked for life and always out of money...

Jose L Piedras are very good starter cubans, I still enjoy smoking them a year later.
Padron 2000 are still one of my favourites too.
I'd also suggest an Olivia 'O' Classic, I like the Ole's, very fine smoke and not a bank breaker either.

a good everyday smoke would be the sancho panza extra fuerte cordoba..decent price and great taste.

Welcome to the board. Personally, I don't think there are any good flavored cigars. I would start with a Romeo y Julieta or a Hoyo De Monterrey. Those are what I started on and I really liked them. Now I am hooked.

Try Aroma de Cuba cigars, they run about 5-6$ a stick and are fairly mild.

Without going into brands, because I don't know what your shop carries, I'll make a few milder type suggestions.

Cameroon wrapper cigars tend to be mild-medium with good complex flavors and easy to find. Steer clear of Nicaraguan filler and look for Dominican. A lighter color cigar generally means a milder cigar.

When I first started, I found that the folks running the tobacco stores are generally clueless. You need to go there when the owner is in if you have questions. My first two cigars were a Montecruz Robusto Cameroon and a Cuesta-Rey Cabinet #95 Cameroon. Both were mild and tasty if not extravagant smokes.
