    Thumbs down Aaaargh

Just discovered that since instaling SP2 on my Vaio running XP the DVDRW drive is only reading CD roms, no Audio CDs, no DVDs, and no writing anything. I am about to kick a hole in the wall.

Updated drivers, no fun. Troublesheeter doesn't help either.

Oh yeh, and it's trashed my Inet connection repeatedly, and don't talk to me about wireless.

I thought it was a tampon joke!

When all else fails...shoot it. At least it will make you feel better. Then smoke a good Cigar.

Lucky that I don't own a gun! All I need is another hole in the wall.

Nah... I say smoke a good cigar while you contemplate the problem...

Then you need a good cigar WHILE you work on the problem to relax...

Once you realize it's hopeless, smoke a cigar to calm down...

Then blast a hole in the computer and smoke a cigar while you gloat in your overcoming the problem the good 'ol fashioned way!!!

I have a 230 grain problem solver. I highly recommend it.

Oh yeah I like that method. Four Cigars and you still get to shoot things!

You can uninstall SP2. I've had to do that on a couple of uncooperative PC's at work.

I've found that WXP SP2 is best loaded on a PC before putting the rest of the applications on. It pretty much works flawlessly then. Be careful of the firewall software loaded on the PC by default. It can screw up your network functionality since it automatically locks down almost all the ports. If you don't want to screw with it, go into control panel, open the "firewall" icon, and turn it off.

my cd-rw/dvd drive has been sh*tting for about 2 years now. it only plays dvds. i've tried countless things to fix it but its worthless. i have a job interview tomorrow so i might be able to get enough money to replace the whole unit soon. all i can say is that this never would have happened if i didn't switch from Macs to PC but i'm stuck in my ways now so i won't go back.

best wishes with your troubles! that shotgun idea sounds good though.
