Over a week ago I won an auction at Cigar Bid for some Patel 2nds. Saved about $10 compared to CI's outright price.

OK.....so, I expected to see the cigars within a few days as Cbid is usually fairly quick with shipping.
NOT!!!!!! Today, the tenth day since the auction close I call up CBid customer service just to inquire and make sure something didn't slip under the rug.

A very nice gentleman commented..."Oh...I'm sorry we're out of the 1990 RP Churchill 2nds. However I do have ...X.

To make a short story shorter......

Apparently, and it's not a rampant thing, Cigar Bid posts things that they may not have in stock! What is this? eBay?

I mean it's no big deal and the CS rep is sending me RP 1990 Toro 2nds instead, but it seems strange that such a company would post cigars up for auction that they don't have set aside for that specific auction.

The CS rep said that it must have been an inventory error. Oh puh-lease!

I've noticed that too...under certain orders I've bid on, I see this little disclaimer from time to time:

"Note: although rare, from time to time substitutions may occur based on availability."

They sure as hell better not do that to the Gurka Legends I just won a few days ago (and got a very good price on I must say).

Yeah, I'm trying to get my new humidor filled up....lol. I can see why people get addicted to this because there are definitely some good deals to be had :). I blame this forum and I should have took the quote 'cbid is my drug' literally :).

JStrider - From clicking on different lots, you're right....only seems to show up with samplers. Good catch!

the only time i've seen that is on their sampler packs that have a bunch of different cigars...

Unless they offered something I considered an equally good or superior smoke, I would tell them to credit my damn card and cuss them out for such business practices.
