preping a humidor

hello all

i was wondering if it was necessary to prep the humidor before putting the smokes inside? i have read that it is good to wipe the inside down, is this right to do? what else should be done or does anything have to be done before use?

You probably want to put a small glass of distilled water in your humidor for 24 or so hours. The spanish cedar in your humidor should absorb some of the water. If it absorbs all of the water, refil and leave it in there for 24 more hours.

You should also keep a close eye on your humidifier. It is going to rapidly absorb the water out of it in the beginning. Make sure and keep it filled. Wait til the humidity inside the humi is above 65% before putting your smokes in there. In the case of my humi, it took a month before it reached and stayed at a constant 70%, now that is where it stays with no issues.
