Thread: Heartfelt beads Tube

    Default Heartfelt beads Tube

I just received my order from Heartfelt, I ordered the medium sized tube. For all of you who have experience with the tube, how do you activate it? Do you dunk it in distilled water? Or pour the water over the tube? The directions were meant for the beads outside of the tube. Also, how do you keep it at a constant humidity? Thanks for the help.

When I bought one of those from Climmax, they included a small syringe so I could measure the amount of distilled water to "charge" them with.

They recommended 4 ml of water for their 25 cigar size tube.

Your tube requires very little water so I would not recommend submersing it in water. You may want to contact Viper and ask for his recommendation.

They will keep a constant humidity, beads are practically foolproof so no worries there.

Again, you only need to add a very small quantity of water. I'm not familiar with viper's tubes but the ones I have from Climmax have small holes on each end where you "inject" the water from the syringe. If your tube doesn't have that and you don't have access to a syringe, then just pour a teaspoon of water over the tube (that's approximately 4 ml).

Like CC said, they dont require much water, depending on your climate you may want to use a little more or little less. The humidity where I live varies from 60-100% so I put very little water on mine, and I usually end up having to dry them out every few months.

Does there appear to be a good way to mount the tube in a humidor?

It looks like it just lies in your humi, which is a scary thought for me... Wet thing touching my cigars...

The tubes really aren't wet, but to play it safe, you could lay it on one of those thin pieces of cedar that often come in cigar boxes to separate it from the cigars.
I got a tube, but landed up buying extra beads (mostly for my coolidor) and having the beads in a separate cedar container that I had in order to increase surface area.
E-mail Viper at heartfelt, he's very responsive.

I have non heartfelt beads in a 12 pack size cooler for overflow. From reading the instructions on the heartfelt website I've improved my system. No need for hygrometer just watch the beadmoisture load. I do a 24 hr check every few weeks with my humidor hygrometer and the little cooler doesn't stray much.

To hold my beads, I use the cedar humidifier holder I got with my OshKosh humidifier (You can see it if you scroll down on this page). The humidifier is presently retired.
It's pretty big, so it might take up too much room in a small humidor, and it certainly holds more than enough beads. But I like it because it looks good and the beads are easily visible (making them easy to maintain) and it keeps the beads from direct contact with the cigars.

i use an old prescription bottle to hold my beads, i punched lots of holes with a push pin all around it and in the lid. doesnt have as much surface area as it could... but it works well for my little tupperdor

to refill the beads i just put a shotglass of distilled water in the humidor and let the beads absorb the humidity.

    Easiest way to activate it.

    Get some tupperware.
Add a bowl with distilled water.
    insert tube into said tupperware.

Close tupperware and let is sit for a cple days so it will absorb the requiered amount.

I found it hard to add water directly ..those damn beads like to blow up like rice krispies..LOL!!

I emailed Heartfelf and the reply was that you can pour small amounts of water diretly on the tube, through the end by taking the cap off, or put the tube next to a bowl of distilled water and let the tube absorb the vapor. I just ordered a Savoy humidor, so I think I'll go ahead and prep the humidor by wetting the wood and placing a bowl of distilled water in the humidor and let it sit for a few days, then add the tube in the humidor and let it absorb what is left of the bowl containing distilled water. I'll post results if anyone is interested.

I have looked for climmax beads, I found anal beads and other assorted porn stuff, fuji publishing group (seems to be a cigar portal) but I can't find the beads, specifically the tube and syringe from the box pass.

    Need a little help here.

    Thanks.

I purchased the aluminum rectangular humidification container with the beads in it. Comes with a velcro square to attach to the side of your humi and a syringe to fill it. Has worked pretty well!

If you were to use a large 65% tube in a small humidor, would the humidity still stay the same? Would this mean you just wouldnt have to recharge it so often?

    Exactly.
You can't use too many beads.

If I remember correctly, I asked Heartfelt about what size I needed....medium is up to 50 cigars, large is for more than 50. I went with the medium because I ordered the small humidor. Maybe in time I'll need the upgrade.

Since its only a few dollars extra, I figure ill invest in the large size - then there will be no issue if I ever decide to upgrade my humi

You can order the beads - 65 or 70% here:

I responded to your email to me but figured I would post here as well.

There are 2 easy ways to do it. First, just remove one of the end caps and pour 2-3 teaspoons of distilled water on the beads and replace the end cap, they will distribute the moisture amongst themselves in minutes. The second method is to spray distilled water on the tube and let it sit for a whil (10-15 minutes) then wipe off the excess moisture on the tube.

Once the beads have absorbed the distilled water they are not "wet" anymore. The moisture only comes off i a vapor state. I have them in my desktop just laying with the cigars and there is no problem. Remember the beads are inside of a plastic tube and do not come in contact with the cigars anyway.
