Default Buying cigars during the winter months: not cool?

Where I live the winter can be pretty bitter, and after hearing things like "I'm so happy about my before-winter order" and "I'm ecstatic about my before-winter order", I'm starting to think there are drawbacks to buying during the winter. I just started becoming interested in cigars for three weeks or so now and feel compelled to build a coolerdor and fill it. This impulsion may thwart my more reasoned thinking, but maybe the colder months will not be devastating to a future shipment? After all, I've heard of people throwing their cigars in the freezer.

Is it true I should resist during "that" time?

there is nothing wrong with buying cigars during the winter....make sure you have good storage when you get your order.....hold off on the coolerdor and get a decent humidor....walk before you run...

This is just a guess, but does it have anything to do with the Christmas-time rush? Perhaps stock is a little shorter around the holidays? The one local shop says he only gets Opus in around Christmas, due to the fact it's the "buying season."
