Default Newbie Hygrometer and dry cigar questions

Hello all, this maybe a totally noob question, but I had bought a few cigars a couple weeks back and didn't get to smoke them right away. Now they're really dry. My question is this, can they be remoisturized by putting them into my new humidor that has a good humidity in it?

Second question, I've set up my new humidor with a shoot glass of 50/50 humidor solution and a wet humidification system. I put my digital hygrometer in the top tray and it readsapproximately %75 (which is great with me, I like my cigars a little softer), however the built in hygrometer which is on the bottom of the front wall continuously reads about %63-%65. They are less than a foot apart? I don't think I can take the analog/built in hygrometer out to calibrate it. Am I safe to just go by the digital?

    Thanks, EY

You want to start out at a lower humidity. If you put it in at a high humidity, especially 75%, you risk splitting the stick. If I remember correctly start off with the sticks in a ziplock with a moist paper towel for a day and work your way back up.

Salt test the non-digital if possible.

You can rehydrate them but they probably wont taiste as good because the oils will have dried out. If it has only been a week or so there may still be some hope though.

Also you can either loose the shot glass, or take out the humidifier, which is saturated with the 50/50 and put it and the cigars in some tupper ware while you continue to let your humidor season. The 50/50 should stablized in the tupper ware around 70% in no time.

I agree with Shagaroo. In addition, you can also check out this article I found on google for reviving a dry cigar:

EDIT: I had a lot of issues with my wet humidifier system. I'd highly recommend getting a rectangular humidifer from heartfelt that uses the bead technology...

I've been REALLY pleased with it, it's worked GREAT and very low maintenance.

I would keep the humidor between 65-70%
