Has anyone heard of these

A aquaintance of mine told me that his father and his buddies used to smoke what were called "Stogies" - they had a kind of cork-screw shape to them and when they were down to the last inch they would let it go out and then pop it in there mouth and chew it . Has anyone ever heard anything like this . This supposedly took place in South Philadephia 30 years ago with regularity . Not that I want to start eating my cigar butt's , it just seem's totally absurd to me .

When I was younger it was always a point of honor to be the one to "eat the roach." However, that was much smaller than a cigar butt!

I know of ppl who actually chew on a cigar. Instead of smoking it. I heard thru a friend that alot of oled navy guys used to do this. Seeing as they were not allowed to smoke in the submarines..So in order to get their fix they would actually chew on a cigar as if it were gum..LOL!!

haha. that's funny. for us, it was always a few of us chanting 'eat the roach' to the dumbest of the group til he did it. not really an honor, but something for the rest of us to laugh at.

often times,i'll put peanut butter on the cigar and eat it...but sometimes,i want hot...so i put a good hot chicken wing sauce on it......that's good eating!!!...
