It seems my eyes are bigger then my humidors LOL. How long can you keep a box of cigars, outside the humidor, that are still sealed in the plastic before you damage them?

I dont know how long they will stay in a box, but you could pick up a cheap humidifier for a few bucks and toss it in there. Most boxes have pretty good seals and so long as the cigars are still in the cello they should stay a pretty good while with a little help. I'll say a few months.

And you can just leave the cigars you dont plan on smoking any time soon in the box to dry up, but keep them cool, then when you want to smoke them, stick them in the humidor for a few days to freshen up.

You want to get them in a container as soon as possible. Go with a coolidor. Do a google search. Tons of info on making one.

Depends on your climate. Go to the store and buy a coolor or tupperware style box. You can get one for a few bucks. Pick up a humidifier and your set.

Do not let your cigars dry up. Once they are dry they can not be braught back. You can rehydrate them but the oils will be gone and you'll be left with a very blan cigar.

I suggest tossing them in a gallon-size freezer bag for the time being. Then look into making yourself a nice, big coolerdor for mass storage

A lot of people go to the work of "making a coolidor". Just buy a nice sized cooler, a humidity guage and other necessary provisions (either humidity elements, or beads). Fill it up. If you want to get fancy and line it with Spanish cedar, make it into a "set it and forget it" you can always add those features along the way.

I would just pick up a cheap cooler and add a gauge and cheap humidity source. Cheap and effective.......

If you do toss them in a gallon size ziploc it would be a good idea to include some type of humidifier such as a Drymistat Crystal Tube:

I was only suggesting a gallon size freezer bag for temporary storage while you work on something more permanent. You don't want 'em drying out while you're waiting for your Heartfelt Beads to arrive...

What kind of box and what kind of cigars? If the box didn't come with some kind of humi device go with the cheap solution of the freezer bag until you make up your mind on another route. And when you go to the store to get the bag, grab a bottle of distilled water and dampen a bit of florist foam or even a paper towel with it and stick it in the bag.
