  1. Default My least favorite people.......

    Hey All;

    Around this time of year there are a lot of people who need social and financial assistance. That being said, you always hear of a few idiots around this time of year who like to ruin Christmas for everyone.

    In the last few weeks, there have been a couple things which really get under my skin. A local food bank was robbed and completely cleaned out. The crooks got most of the food and the majority of their money. Now the food bank is falling short of helping hundreds of needy people in this area.

    If this story wasn't bad enough, a bunch of asshats decidided to steal Christmas trees from a local hockey team. The team had hoped to make much needed money from the sale of the trees, and now they are struggling to break even.

    Anyway, anyone have any other Christmas-asshat stories to share? Is anyone planning on doing any volunteer work this Christmas? Take it easy all;

    This kind of verbal diarrhea is dangerous. In case you've forgotten, here is a reminder. The last time this kind of thing came up, a member here took leave of his senses and inhibitions, and posted some personal views that the rest of us used to build a bonfire on which that poster justifiably roasted.

    That's not why it's dangerous though. Some may even hold that this is a good way to weed out trolls that may be lurking under the guise of BOTL.

    The reason it's no good is because it does grant license to folks to join in on bullshit, do-nothing, sanctimonious bandwagons that will eventually and always jump the track and crash into a wall of impotent, clamouring, noise. When the dust settles, there is still nothing that has been done.

    Folks like yourself IE, likely have the wherewithal to mount an intervention at some level toward such plights as you mention here and I like to think of this board as one populated with folks with the inclination to do so as well.

    Bitching here about what you hate does nothing. Inviting others to add puke to the puddle only increases the nothing.

    Basil makes very good points and I don't think anyone should add any stupid stories to this thread.

    I hate santa clause, jolly fat bastard trying to seduce little kids with presents, sneeks into your house in the middle of the night, enslaves small people to aid in his suduction of small children. Has a list of whitch boys and girls are "naughty". AND WE INCURAGE THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR?

    Reflecting on your quote Basil, you probably have a good point. I never read that thread before, but HOLY CRAP, what was that guys problem! That was a perfect example of how a single discussion turned into a nightmare. There are a lot of complete idiots out there.

    To turn this thread in a positive direction however, is anyone planning on doing any volunteer/charity work this Christmas? I was thinking about just volunteering at a local soup kitchen, and I was wondering if anyone had done this kind of thing before? I have never done that sort of thing before, but I kinda feel I sould. Any suggestions on what to expect?

    I've done some charity work in the past around Christmas. I don't think I'll be able to this year though. I hate to hear about the food bank IE, but hopefully everything will work out. Maybe a good spirited public fillanthropist will come to the rescue. Just remember one thing, at this time of year SOME people do turn into Scrooges, but the VAST MAJORITY of people remember those less fortunate than themselves.

    To this day I still regret that post. I had no idea that it would get so out of hand.

    You did nothing wrong.

    Now as for "TheycallmeRacist" he crossed the line, and got booted out. He's suppose to "change his life around", but old dogs don't learn so well.
