    Default First Humidor

Just bought my first humidor. It's a small 100 count desk humi. The guy gave me a great deal. Knocked 10 bucks off the box and gave me $35 worth of cigars for free. Anyways, just wanted to know if you guys could give me any tips to get me started out.

Where had you been storing your smokes previously?

I too, am shocked that a Senior Member does not have a Humi.

My biggest problems exist with hygrometers. Do not mess with the screw on the back too much if it does not fire right up or pass the salt test. Season it twice by wiping it with solution before storing cigars. When more moisture is needed, I recommend using distilled water to fill the humidifier 3 times in a row and then use the the 50/50 solution every fouth time. Also, you can use a mix of 3 parts distilled water and one part 50/50 solution for each charge.
Mama said a lot of things and be thankful was the one she never minded saying twice

I'm a so-called "senior member" and I use tupperware. I will have a humi someday, but I'm cheap and never have too many cigars at a time anyway.

I'm not going to use one of those crazy screw on the back hygrometers, you have to calibrate them and everything. I am going to wipe it down tomorrow with some distilled water. I'm looking forward to getting it going. I have some good smokes that are going in it.

Get a digital hydrometer because analog hydrometers are not very accurate. Also, as said before, get beads.

Ya know Mike, Up-N-Smoke was giving out FREE HUMIDORS when you bought 5 or more smokes... I gave mine away to a guy on CP though.

That's where I got it KB. They weren't running that promotion anymore, but he gave me a good and threw in some extras. I was pleased.
