You're correct. I had a friend who became very sick (rather quickly) from inhaling cigars and ended up dying from lung cancer soon after.

That wasn't an anxiety/panic attack you were experiencing unfortunately. By inhaling the smoke, it appears your lungs were unable to handle it which triggers the symptoms you were feeling. Your lungs have suffered damage, and as a result, your body has gone into a sort of panic mode which is expected in order to get you stop smoking.

If you keep inhaling you will become violently ill and could be endanger of getting cancer.

Just a friendly warning, I'd be careful if I were you.
