Thread: Moving this Friday

    Default Moving this Friday

I will be moving this Friday, not very far at all from where I live now. But utilities will hopefully be on at my new location on Friday, but just in case, I may not be on for a while. I sure hope my closings on Thursday (present house) and Friday (new house) all go smooth as silk or we're up shit creek. Needless to say I am moving the important stuff myself - all electronics and my cigars, and god help the movers if they break any of the other stuff!!

Good luck on the move...I know how much of a pain they are even if they are just down the street.

Good Luck! Make sure you mark the boxes and what room they go in it will save you a lot of time in the end.

Well, both closings went ok on Thursday and Friday, and we spent almost all of our time Friday, Saturday and Sunday moving. I hadda go to work Sunday, huge travel show we run every year about this time, and my boss cut me no slack for the move. Didn't have a cigar since Friday, so went almost three days without until I had a VS Bohemian tonight. Love this new house dammit, got a great covered porch in back and one out front that are perfect for smoking away while enjoying a nice beverage and a book.

Plus now that we are moved, and our mortgage payment is cut 40%, I can get a new PC this March. Thinking about buying a Dell wireless laptop, can't friggen wait.

Check with consumers report before buying a laptop. Dell is at the bottom of the pile when it comes to laptops. Just my 2 cents. Congrats again on the house!

Don't get me started on Consumer Reports...

Last year I picked up their annual car guide, just for shits and giggles. They didn't have the car I was looking for in it, so I read the review for my gf's Saturn Ion. They gave it awful reviews, specifically saying it was loud and underpowered. I really don't see how 140bhp in a car the size of a shoebox could be considered underpowered, but eh, they didn't like it.

A couple days later I thought I'd check out the reviews on the Chevy Cobalt. They couldn't say enough about that car! It was quiet, powerful... er, did I miss something? The 2.2L Ecotec in the Saturn was loud and underpowered, but the SAME engine in the Chevy body was quiet and powerful?

When I told a friend of mine this story, he said he saw the same problem with Scion and Toyota.

I've found they have a huge brand name bias in electronics, as well, but nothing as blatant.

I have the Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop with a wireless connection. This has been a very reliable and powerful machine. It is a bit heavy, but what do you expect for a 17 inch monitor...

I'll definitely check out the consumer feedback on Dell laptops but I know two people who have one and they love theirs. I like the big keyboard and big screen, I know it is going to be heavy but I have big hands and big fingers so I need a big keyboard.
