Don't get me started on Consumer Reports...Originally Posted by cinda
Last year I picked up their annual car guide, just for shits and giggles. They didn't have the car I was looking for in it, so I read the review for my gf's Saturn Ion. They gave it awful reviews, specifically saying it was loud and underpowered. I really don't see how 140bhp in a car the size of a shoebox could be considered underpowered, but eh, they didn't like it.
A couple days later I thought I'd check out the reviews on the Chevy Cobalt. They couldn't say enough about that car! It was quiet, powerful... er, did I miss something? The 2.2L Ecotec in the Saturn was loud and underpowered, but the SAME engine in the Chevy body was quiet and powerful?
When I told a friend of mine this story, he said he saw the same problem with Scion and Toyota.
I've found they have a huge brand name bias in electronics, as well, but nothing as blatant.
