just bought a drymistat.. question

Is a humistick and a drymistat basiclly the same thing? ( sorry im new to this one )Ive seem a clear , plastic tube with crystals in it that you add water too....is that a humistick?? stat??

Yes - they are the same (or very similar). The directions say that you can add tap water but that's b/c it's "disposable" after 6-12 mo of use. They come pre-charged, so no 50/50 needed. To make sure you keep it (and your cigars) clean, I'd spend the 60 cents on a gallon of distilled water and fill it along with your humidifier.

You can keep it next to/on top of/under your cigars, just make sure you still rotate the cigars every couple of weeks (on the outside) until you get a consistent humidity. Seeing how you have a bigger humidor, you may want to keep them apart from your cigars using dividers (one on the top and one on the bottom level at opposite ends).

The thing I was talking about bobalouie,is similar to your's.In fact it's made by the same company.ClimaGuard from Cigar Savor.Its the red stick filled with some type of foam with beads in it sitting on a spring.When wet the thing weighs down the spring hideing the red sticker in the window.When dry it raises up displaying the red sticker for notice of a refill.
It handles more cigars then the other thing.I only have one for a hundred and my humi stays 67-69%rh all the time.

well I got the 2 sticks in my humidor and so far it seems to be doing ok. I also got a Heartfelt Stick ( 70% ) so I replaced one humi stick with one heartfelt I have them in the fromt and back of the humidor on angles, bottom to top. I hope it is doing the job. My Humidity seems to be staying stable so ......yay for me ( took long enough )
