Glad to hear that you like the Xikar. I have yet to run across anyone who is dissatisfied with them. Even if you get hosed on the price, you'll find that they are more than worth the money. I understand totally about the main piece being loose. A bud of mine had the same problem, but he put it all back together with no problems at all. The only bad thing about double-bladed guillotine cutters is that after some time, a little "play" will develop which will lead to wrapper issues. But with a good warranty from the company, all's good. That's what I love the most about my own pierce cutter. I've ordered replacement blades when I noticed that the cap on a few cigars were getting more "crushed" than pierced. My own double-guillotine blade is made by Cuban Crafter's.

My wife bought me a stainless Xicar for xmas last year. A bit of a shock to see a $60 cutter when I unwrapped it, but I have to say it was worth every bit. Anyone who's had a bad cutter before needs one of these. And with the warranty, unbeatable cutter.

Default Speaking of the Warranty . . .

As I mentioend before mine fell apart but I was able to put it all back together. Then the plastic on one of the pop-out sides fell off! WTF! Remember this was only a month or so old.

So I contacted Xikar customer service. They immediately returned my email and not only were they going to replace the cutter . . . they offered to send me the better all metal version Xi instead of the Xi2 plastic one I had before.

    Xikar ROCKS!

So, what do you all think about this: is the plastic model (the Xi2) a sufficiently good cutter? Or if you're going to get a Xikar, should you pony up the extra $$$ to get the metal Xi1 model?

I have decided I need an Xikar! Last night I went to cut one of my cigars with the cheap $5 dbg and it squeezed it more then cut it. I haven't even been using this cutter for very long! I was thinking about it and the difference between the two is the quality of the metal! The Xikar metal is probably ten times the quality of the cheap cutters so they hold their edge for MUCH longer. That is why they are able to offer a life time warranty. If I buy an Xikar from ebay will I get the lifetime warranty still?

I stopped by the Xikar booth at the RTDA and filled out all the paperwork to become a Xikar Authorized retailer. They had a show special where if you bought 12 you got one free. I ended up getting the Xi3 Tech and a 007 silver for myself.

Wow, I just tried the Xi3 Tech and its a pretty bad ass cutter. Havent had a chance to try the 007, but it looks nice on my keychain
