    Default alcahol with cigars

now i've asked what people like to drink with their cigars, ive never drank alcahol with cigars before, always water. tonight was the first time i drank with one, i smoked a trinidad, and had squirt and southern comfort, and all i could taste was the drink which ruined the cigar, so does this happen to anyone else?

but i think im going to just stick with water with my cigars now.

  2. Default drink

I was going to ask a simular question. I was going to ask what was best to drink while smoking a stoagie? If anything at all.

so far, im sticking with water, cuz i can taste the cigar more, maybe wine will be different, since it isnt as strong, im not too sure though, i'd hate to waste another cigar.

the stronger your drink is the stronger the cigar has to be to not be overwhelmed by the drink

try a good root beer with a cigar sometime, its one of my fav combinations
i recomend Henry Weinhard's Root Beer if you can find it in your area

yeah this trinidad seemed to be mild, from what i could taste, although it was a tight draw, maybe from my humidity. but i'll try once with the wine, and if that takes away from the cigar, i'll just stick with the water. Cuz half the fun for me, is rating the cigar and observing everything the cigar has to offer.

  6. Default draw

Why would your humidor cause a tight draw? You mean you have to suck hard, right?

I had a Fat Tire Beer with an AF Sun Grown Belicoso last night. It was an awesome combo.

I just drink water when I smoke. I don't like anything to over power the taste of the cigar. I have a few Cognac soak cigars that I like smoking and they taste great, but I don't drink alcohol when I smoke them.

    squirt and southern comfort

I think that would overpower anything . . . even the ability to keep my dinner down.

Fat Tire is great with a good maduro. If you are smoking a natural, I've found that Bud Select is a great complimentary drink for those. Also, try the Dalmore cigar malt straight with a heavy maduro.

For me, if I'm drinking, it's usually Stolichnaya (vodka). Pravda, Kettle One, General Stark (a new one out of NH made with apples) and Quotes are good vodkas too. Try it. Many people think I'm nuts, but I think vodka can pair well with a cigar. Yes, vodka. It has to be a good vodka and it has to be ice cold. Not crap llike Smirnoff. Also I can go for a good Scotch or Whisky.

At times I have noticed that alcohol can ruin the taste of a cigar for me.

But I have no particular favorite combos as I usually prefer to drink nothing when I smoke.

Beer of course goes well as does coffee.
