Smoke Magazine reviews bite!

I've had a couple cigars recommended by these reviews and found them mediocre while the review said they were great. After going over other reviews for this mag, I've come to the conclusion that they are a bit too optimistic. No smoke is bad to these guys. They're almost as bad as the reviews of cigars on the sites selling them! CA has much better reviews IMHO. They seem to be a bit more objective. Frankly, the reviews I trust most are the ones right off this site!

What does everyone else think.

Yeah I don't give a rats ass what the rags say. I just assume they're assisting their advertising profits.


I generally listen to the clowns that populate this board. As much as it hurts to admit this, you bastids generally know what your're talking about.

I reviewed cigars for Smoke Magazine twice. I gave less than favorable reviews on a few cigars they sent. On those cigars they changed my wording to make the review favorable.

If you look the cigars they review are also the ones that have ads in the magazine for that month...

I know another guy that reviews for them and he reports the same thing.

Honest reviews come from places like this that has no $$ involved in the process.

I don't waste my time with Smoke magazine. I still subscribe to CA but I hardly ever read it.

The only cigar magazine that's worth anything is European Cigar Cult Journal.

How do the Cigar Magazine reviews stack up?

I've never really put much trust in reviews... I'd rather ask around here. I don't think Hex is changing anyone's reviews here...

I also reviewed for SMOKE a couple of times. The cigars I got were pretty good overall. One thing as a reviewer ya gotta remember...your taste is not everyone's. I preferfuler smokes...but that doesn't mean I should rate a light smoke poorly. Just cause it isn't to my taste doesn't mean someone else won't like it. Overal I think SMOKE's reviews are pretty fair....they let you know who the reviewers are and they published what I wrote.

I found their site. Did you subscribe on-line and give them your credit card information or do you actually buy the magazine in a store?
