    Default Quarter Chance Lottery

Seeing this new Forum category inspired me to come up with a simple little lottery game that I have named the Quarter Chance Lottery. (That's because you have a 25% chance to win). The rules are simple:

    1. The game will consist of a fixed number of players in multiples of 4 (4, 8, 12, 16, 20, etc.) This game will have from 12 to 16 players depending on interest.

    2. Each player will send in two cigars valued between $4 and $8. I suppose you can exceed $8 if you want to, but that is not required OR rewarded. You may send two of the exact same cigar or two different cigars.

    3. Each player sends in $1 to cover shipping costs to the winners.

    4. I will not be participating in this lottery because I wouldn't feel right if I won it, even though my lotto facility runs a "clean" game.

    5. Once I have received all cigars, we will select the winners. For a 12 person game, there will be 3 winners and 4 winners for a 16 person game. Winners will be selected by using a blind list and draw. I will send a randomly ordered list to a non-participating third party person. Another non-participating third party person will pull the winning numbers from a hat containing all the numbers from 1 to the number of players. The winner drawer will post the the winning numbers and afterwards, the list holder will post the list. I will verify the list is the same order as what I sent and we will all be surprised together as we compare the winning numbers to the names on the list.

    6. I will then randomly assign the 2-cigar sets to each Lot until it reaches 8 cigars. If the cigars you sent in come up for your winning Lot, I will re-roll for a different 2-cigar set. The bottom line is that you will not be receiving the cigars you sent in, if you are one of the winners.

    7. I will send each winner their 8 Cigar winning lottery package.

    8. In the event you sign up, but cannot play for some reason, a replacement will be selected.

    9. Once 8 players sign up, I will send my address to all players and subsequent players. We will play with 8 players at a minimum.

Here is the list of players so far:

    Newbies allowed to play??

If so, count me in. Also, if I'm in, I'll send a Fiver in case I win to cover expenses.

Newbies are not only allowed to play, I encourage them to play. This is a great chance for a newbie to get right in there and prove themselves.

As for those of you that live in Canada or other parts of the world. Only send a dollar. IF YOU WIN, then we'll work something out with regards to the extra shipping. I am a firm believer in what goes around comes around, so I'm not too worried about paying that extra shipping for our fine non-US brothers. I mean you are already paying more to play by sending your sticks in, so it will all wash out in the end.

    So, you are IN!

Maybe I missed something or just not had enough coffee today . . . but how are the winners selected?

I will look at the list of players and decide based on who has the coolest name and avatar. I have a 25 point scale.....

Truely, it will be a blind list and draw. I will send the randomly listed names to a trusted FOG and another trusted FOG will draw numbers out of a hat. The number drawer will post the winning numbers and the list holder will post the list afterwards. I will verify that the list is in the same order as what I sent. Then we will all be surprised at the same time as we read the list and winning numbers.

I mean I could just draw the numbers out of the hat, but the above way adds to the drama and it adds to the player's confidence that it is a clean game.

The 25% odds are even better than the NCAA tournament this year.

  17. Thumbs up

I humbly ask to be counted.

If LSU wins this weekend, I win the pool at work.

I seriously wonder how much I would have won if I just bet $1 on George Mason for every game they've played thus far. CRAZINESS.

Props for the game illillillillillilli. You da palindrome!
