OK, I saw this by Drew on another thread:

What RH do the B&M's keep in their walk-ins?

I think Drew's post takes care of one of my issues!! I love the feel of a decent cigar in a walk-in humidor in the shops. Roll them between your fingers and the way they feel is almost sensual. I take some home, put them in my humi and within a couple of days, they don't have that "soft oily" feel any more, but feel harder.

My humidor is steady at 64-66% measured by the hygrometer that passed the salt test at ~73%.

So basically, there's no way I can or should expect the smokes in my stash to feel like the stock in the B&M's???
