    Default MX2 Disapointment

Some how The_Boys thread didn't seam like the place to write my review so here. When bought I bought my humidor I also bought this guy. So, 7 months later, I decided to finally light this guy up. It’s the robusto size. Upon lighting it up, it smacked me in the face. I'm thinking I've just bitten off more then I can chew. Soon there after, the cigar begins to develop. Unfortunately, it didn't really develop much. There were subtle coffee flavors and half way through that changed to faint floral flavors. I had to harness my chi to really get much taste out of this one. Really, the only exciting thing about this MX2 was that the white ash lasted half of the cigar, and it did put out a good amount of smoke. Down side is, it didn't have much in the way of flavor, rather bland. I have to say that I was expecting much more, from CAO and from the hype of the MX2, and certainly from the aging. Has this happened to anyone else, maybe from CAO, MX2 or from aging?

I had one about a month & a half ago. I bought a CAO Maduro Robusto box pressed on a whim and loved it, so I got a little selection of CAO's. I hated the MX2. But I put it off to either my Newbishness, or me getting a bad stick because so many people like 'em. I'll probably try one or two again, but it's low on my list of stuff to try 'cause I think they were about $9 a piece at the B&M I go to.

I'd say you need to give that one another try. If I may be so bold, grab one at your B&M, but only give it a week or two before smoking it. You might also grab a Soprano if they have em.

You got a dud, man. I swear!

The one I had was only in my humi for a couple of days. I did see the CAO Sopranos there. I was tempted.

Like I said, I WILL give it another try or two.

I guess I'll give it another shot. Have you tried the Soprano? what was your take on it? I'm tempted to try it, but with the price tag and mixed reviews, I don't know. There are many other smokes out there for the same amount of money that i want to try more.

IMO, this cigar has been consistently over-rated. At best it's an "ok" maduro.

I was gifted the entire line of Sopranos and have smoked all but the belicoso. They're WONDERFUL. Kinda strong, though. I love maduros and generally get a tight feeling in the back of my throat when the burn is down around the band, but I've nubbed them all.

Just read GC's post. Let me add that you're paying a licensing fee to HBO on every one. They ARE overpriced, IMO. There are many other cigars that are as good or better, and cheaper.
