    Default Me: 1, Customs: 0

Well, I had my first run-in with customs on my last package recievd.

As usual it was declared as "humidor acessories" with a low dollar value.

I get the package and notice some funny looking yellow tape on the bottom that says "opened by customs"
Oh shit, I think, they have me now. There doesn't appear to be any other paperwork attached to the box, and it still feels heavy, so I open it up. The side that they opened just happened to have a "happy birthday" note attached to the packing pillows. The contents were not visible from that side. I assume they just read the note and the closed it back up .

I now reccommend that a small happy birthday note be included on all cross-border packages, on the side of the package that is easiest to open.

Worked for me, the whole shipment arrived intact and tax-free.

If it was just cigars from the US, don't sweat it.

I've had people put cigars on it or they've opened up and taxed me.

After the deals I get down in the US, the cost + taxes still are waycheaper than buying cigars up here.

And that day would be May 20th

Drew: nice one... shame I can't pull that trick when I go across to Buffalo for the Herf... but as CdnDarter mentioned, if I have to pay duty on anything over 50 cigars I can live with that.

Better check on how long you have to be on that side of the border before you get the 50 sticks duty free!!

    48 hours! hehehe.

I'll be there from the Friday night to at the least Sunday night at a friends place. I'll be going over to Bluesmans or meeting BPP somewhere perhaps (Tinderbox?) before hand and going to the HERF . I will hopefully work out some way to make it back to my buddies place without driving since I think there might be some drinkin' involved too

Want anything special while I am down there Newfie?

OK, I didn't know if you were just going over for the day.

Thanks for the offer Will. But with what I have coming right now I'm gonna have to open up another Tupperdor.

Ok, if you change your mind or want me to grab you some premium sticks (like an Opus X or something like that if I see them there) don't hesitate to ask brutha.
