Default Cigar Tastes Best With .........

I have just joined this forum and tried to find any discussion on the topic of people's favorite drink with a cigar but could not find any so decided to start a new post.

Everywhere you read you seem to find that one should only have single malt scotch with their cigar. At first it seems natural as you keep hearing this over and over again but I am sure that there are people out there with just as many preferences for drinks as the have for cigars.

Let's share what one like to have as a drink to compliment heir fine cigar. Would be great if you guys can give some details about your particular experience perhaps some will decide to try it as well.

    Ok I Will go first:

Most of the time I like to have strong coffee - preferably espresso - with my cigars. I guess the reason is I like my cigars on the strong side with lots of spice and a nice kick to them, s to me the taste and aroma of espresso only add to the overall sensation without diluting the flavor, smell or that beautiful creamy smoke a nice stogie has

I have tried many drinks with mine fine cigars (and a few of the not so fine ones). From singl malt scotch, Kentucky Bourbon, Tennessee whisky, coffee, soda. What I have found that compliments the taste of my favorite cigar (H Upmann Conn #1) is Diet Rite with Slpenda. I know it sound funny, but that is my best time. Sitting on the deck with bottle of Diet Rite, smoking a Conn #1. Don't knock it til you try it.

Water if it's a cigar I've never tried before, so I'm able to taste it fully. Guinness if it's a stronger cigar.

    Nothing,coffee,scotch,red wine(dry),beer,or brandy......usually in that order.
I usually only must have a drink if the cigar leaves a very dry finish.

Kona coffee, cream, sugar or diet coke - depends on the body of the cigar. I tend to have a "thicker" or "stronger" drink for fuller smokes.

I usually have my favorite beer with a cigar I like, which is Firestone Double Barrel Ale. If its a cigar I have never smoked, then nothing.

Good fresh gourmet coffee is my all around favorite. It's like they were made for each other.

Speaking of coffee, Burger King has done something different with their coffee recently. It's great!

I usually drink water. I find that a sip of water cleanses the palet letting you fully taste your cigar. I have a purifier and I like the water from there better then bottled water.

I either drink iced Gevalia French Roast Coffee, or Stop and Shop brand rootbeer. Those who live in the New England area will appreciate the rootbeer. Paul

I have found that it works best for me if I take a couple of puffs then decide what to pair the cigar up with. My stand-bys are a deep red California wine, Guinness or a local beer called Fat Tire. Coffee works well before 10AM or so.

I tried water with my smoke today for the first time.
It really does allow ya to enjoy all the taste of your cigar, wasn't left with that strong taste in my mouth like usual when I didn't drink anything or drank coke with the smoke.

    Threadjack ON-

Shelby, I love the New Belgium beers, especially the Sunshine Wheat....and have you tried the Skinny Dip? I believe it is their summer beer and it is pretty damn good.

Personally I only smoke in the evening or on weekends, which in turn means that I will probably be drinking of the alcholic persuasion. That said, if I am smoking a more full bodied cigar I will usually have scotch or darker beer. Specifically Johnny Walker Black (I prefer blends to single malt) and Smuttynose Porter. With my milder smokes I'll stick with a Gin and Tonic or a wheat beer.
