Fellow Cigar Lovers.

As you can see by some of the pictures posted at www.metrocigar.com we are coming down the stretch in preparing The Metropolitan Society for our Grand Opening on the night of our June 7 dinner!

We've come quite a distance since those very early rumblings about a real crackdown by the state on its number one enemy: smokers. But, the law that would follow only created an opportunity to create a greater cigar club and that's what you'll find in our new home: The Metropolitan Society.

While we've always know what we have and how much better it will be when our own location opens, it's still great to hear the reactions of new members who have been visiting the Club during construction. Many of those visitors have already joined and we're looking forward to great conversation, fine cigars and, most of all, the tradition of camaraderie that started with the Metropolitan Cigar Society more than a dozen years ago.

THE JUNE DINNER
It's all official on June 7, 2006 at 7:00 PM. That night, the doors of the marble-tiled foyer will open and, for many members, will remain open thereafter on a 365 day 24-7 basis.

We have a few additional visitors to mention for the June dinner. First, Lew Rothman, CEO of J&R CIGARS will be on hand to help kick off our new era. Lew may just happen to be bringing along a sample or two for us all to enjoy. And, while there was a slight schedule mixup last month, we're assured that our longtime friend, Rick Reed, from the CRICKET HILL BREWERY will also be joining us with samples of their terrific brews.
Dinner is being catered by the Brownstone.

For memebers of the old club, we have restructured our dues and their payment will be required by the date of the June dinner. You can learn more about our dues on the website. We're also finding that the interest and demand for lockers in our walk-in humidor is great, so, if you plan to purchase one, you may want to think about doing so soon as the supplies will be limited. Lockers will be a great alternative to lugging cigars, cigar accessories and your favorite drinks and their accessories, such as corkscrews, glasses, mixers, etc.

That's all for now. Please use the rsvp link on the events page of our website to get back to us with your attendance. Again, we'll need payment of dues at the door. So, please plan on doing that. We also need an accurate headcount by Tuesday for our caterer.

The June meeting will be indisputably the most historic meeting of The Metropolitan Society. We hope you'll be part of it. And, if you plan on joining us, be prepared for how magnificent your Club will look.

See you on June 7 at 7:00 PM!
