    Default My First Ashton VSG

    It was an Illusion!!

First of all, I want to thank the BOTL who sent me this. I don't remember if it was in my Noob sampler, or involved in one of the many trades I've done.

I'm not going to get into a full-blown review, most of you know more about these things better than I ever will, I just have a couple of comments and observations.

Yesterday I had a good day, so after supper I said to the Bride "I'm gonna treat myself tonight". She asked where I was going and I told her I just meant a really good cigar.

You gotta understand that lately, if I have a cigar I've never smoked I don't study it on-line to find out people's opinions as I want to form my own (more on that later in another post). Also, you'll all know you don't have to read too many posts on any BB to find out that almost everyone loves this line.

So I go to my "storage area" and look through my collection. I pick this one out in spite of the fact I'm not a big fan of this shape. It's the first time I've really looked at it's construction, but it was simply awesome. the end clipped firmly but cleanly revealing a very nice roll pattern on the end. I chuckled to myself and thought "This reminds me of Fuentes I've smoked" (more on this further down). The pre-light draw was perfect to me. Not as tight as most ISOMs I've smoked, but firmer than most non-ISOMs. I got this sort of bitter-sweet flavour before lighting that somehow reminded me of raw chocolate or coaco or something.

So I lit it outdoors (kinda fucked that up as I'm still getting used to my new triple flame torch). The burn from the bad light corrected itself and stayed perfect, along with a perfect off-white kinda peppered ash.

OK, I'm gonna shorten this, I nubbed it and was very pleased with my choice. So I came down stairs to make the entry in my log and then did some study. I was amazed!!!

IT IS A FREAKIN' FUENTE!!!! I had no idea!!!

Now, I don't know if I will ever be able to afford $300+ for a box, but to me for a once in a while treat, it's a hard stick to beat.

Have a great day people, I'm off for a ride!!

    Jim.

Illusion is my favorite VSG. They can be had for a lot less than $300/box.
In spite of all evidence to the contrary, the entire universe is composed of only two basic substances: Magic and bullshit.
