Flavors Mixing

I have searched the forums and havent had any luck with this question. I just received my humi today and i am in the process of seasoning it as we speak. I should be adding cigars to it within 3-7 days, but i have one question. I was wondering if the flavors of my cigars will mix if I take them out of their cellophane and put them into the humi. I have 15 don kikis that came w/ my humi, 2 helix, 3 romeo y julieta, 2 punch, 2 drew estates acid, and 2 kahlua cigars. I am not so concerned about the first few, but the Acid and the Kahlua cigars have very distinct and strong smells. All of these cigars will be smoked within the next few months. Any input is appreciated. Thank You

I woudl definitely keep the Acids and the Kahlua seperate. Those two will infiltrate. Keep them in the cello for sure though. No need to remove them IMO.

If you MUST keep the in the same humidor I would not let them touch and keep all others in cello. If anything keep the flavored in a ziploc within the humidor.

Those are my thoughts I am sure many others will follow.

There's a reason you probably don't read much about 'em here... not many of us smoke flavored cigars - puros have a distinct flavor by themselves and don't need to be masked by whatever they lace their sticks with it. It's like you don't use Grey Goose in a mixer.

That being said, Guado's right - keep the cellos on. The flavors will marry anyway, this'll just slow down the process. FYI - you don't want to put puros with the flavored sticks, unless of course you're BPP, in which case that's where you put your macanudos.

The rule of thumb with "flavored" or "smelly" cigars. You never put them in the same humidor. Think of a cigar as a sponge.. it soaks up the humidity around it, and there for any other "aroma". Put one acid in a regular box of cigars, and a week later, you open the box, cello or un-celloed you will get a wiff of the aroma.. longer than that.. well. let's just say if you didn't want your hemingway to taste slightly like an acid.. your in trouble. Acids are the worst offenders though.. you can safely store a mild smelling flavored cigar with your regulars for a short period of time.

At work we have 2 humidors especially for flavored cigars. One for flavors & one for acids.. Putting Acid's in with other flavored cigars after awhile ruins the taste.

And you can shoot me.. I like an acid kuba kuba or a CAO bella Vanilla every once in awhile.. but I'm a girl so I have an excuse. :)

Nataku - keep in mind that beads can/may also absorb the smelly sticks - keep those beads separated as well - now and in the future.

I think i have come up w/ a solution...heartfelt messed up my order and sent me a pound of 65% beads instead of sending me my little 1/2oz tube. I called them and they are sending my tube and letting me keep the pound of beads...so im thinkin if i take some beads and put them in the ziplocs then put those ziplocs open into ziplocs that the flavoreds are in they wont have to go into my humi. I am wondering how many beads/how much water for them i will need for inside of the ziploc. Any other ideas are welcome.

Well you don't have many flavored cigars so it wouldn't take much at all but err on the side of putting too many in as you can't really have too few. In fact (f.y.i.) must folks seem to double up on the amount needed because more beads = better humidity contol but more beads = less room too. If it is just a couple of sticks, a gatoraide(sp) bottle cap full with 60% beads white and the rest clear with water should do. You may want to try putting a couple teaspoons full in a panty hose or cheesecloth so its less messy.
