Default Why did you start smoking?

Just wondering why everyone started smoking cigars?

Me, well, I have not actually started yet, but I like the idea behind sitting back in a slightly dimmed room in my favorite easy chair, some Tom Waits playing on the CD player, just relaxing with a good smoke.

started smoking machine mades at the strip bar just something to slow down how fast i was drinking.
then graduated to macanudo maduros-this is when i started actually liking the taste of cigars.

I started smoking cigars a month after i quit smoking cigarettes, sort of as a treat/reward for stopping smoking. I was saving alot of money from not smoking so why not go treat myself out to a good cigar every now and then. It's also a good hobby.

I started smoking cigars because I associated it with success and being a man :)
To me, you have to be passionate about life, about work, about leisure, about anything and everything. I can get passionate about smoking cigars. The ritual of lighting it, tasting it, complete appreciation for the handicraft and workmanship that went into its construction and delivery to get into my hands....

I started smoking in Jamaica on a business trip. I bought a box of Cubans for an incredible deal. I think I paid $275 for a box of Monte #2s. While I now realize I bought a box of very good fakes, it still got me hooked.

I grew up visiting my grandfathers cigar factory on 7th street in Miami. I remember sitting with the workers hours at a time just fascinated as the prepared the tobacco and rolled it into premium cigars. I guess its in my blood. I’ve smoked cigars since I’ve been legally able to, and I’m sure I snuck a few puffs before then.

    Default I started . . .

in January of this year when my wife and I were in Reno Nevada with some friends. The casino had a little cigar shop and my friend (who already smoked cigars occasionally) said we should get a couple.

I was unsure but in the spirit of a good time I bought a Punch Rothchild Double Maduro. I selected that particular one because that was the cigar smoked most frequently by the Dean of my law school.

I was very pleased with with the experience. The next day I bought a Punch Gran Puro and it was very good as well. From then on I have been "hooked" and have tried many different brands, sizes and flavors.

i have tried a few cigars over the years and usually enjoyed them. During the big cigar boom i was really turned off because of the trendiness of it and hadn't tried many cigars even tho they were everywhere in the bars a was in.

Now much later, I'm married, settled down, bored with smoking cigarettes, and I listened to the Cigar Dave Show on the radio one night in the car and thought, you know, I haven't had a good cigar in years....a few days later a stopped into The Humidor, my favorite local tobaconist and bought a couple of sticks....bought my first humidor a couple of weeks later....been regular ever since.

    Default the smell...

As a child, I remember my father used to store his envelopes and other paper goods in cigar boxes, and i loved the way they smelled. When I would walk into a cigar shop, I was again enthralled by this distinct aroma. I naturally posessed a curiosity to try them later on.

This is EXACTLY why I smoke cigars. Plain out. My words couldn't even put it better than this. I smoke cigars for the luxury. I love cigars for what they are, how they taste, and especailly the smell.

I'd suggest you start smoking cigars, from the sounds of it you may enjoy it buddeh!

    Wink

The sight of whole unrolled brown cigar leaves laid out before be was too much to resist. This was about two years ago while walking around a marketplace. I never looked back since then. Been trying anything that i can get my hands on. Still on that quest for the perfect smoke.
