Default Rocky Patel Old World Reserve...

All I could find on the search was a post from 2005. I did not want to ressurect it so I opted for a new thread. Anyone had one of these lately?

I just picked up a couple of these today. They seem to be selling quite rapidly. I won't have a chance to enjoy it for a week or so but would love to get some recent feedback on it. All I can find is info from people that were able to get these at the cigar shows etc...

yep - to me it had the same taste profile as the 90/92. A little smoother and sweeter. But a 10+ bucks a stick, not different enough and over priced IMO.

I like RP cigars, but they're ALL overpriced IMHO. You can't even get a good price on auctions. They make Ghurka's look cheap, and people are always complaining about the prices of those.

    Slight threadjack:

I was gifted a couple of the new RP Vengeance sticks. Anyone else try these? I personally like them better than the sungrown and vintage line... ...and they are right up there with an aged Edge on a flavor profile. I would be curious to know what other folks think of this cigar.

if you want to talk about the vengance, make a new thread.

Even though the RP's are expensive, they are sooooo good. I loved the Old World. Had two already. To me, they are worth the price.

The Old World Cigars remind me of the Nording Cigars which are also made by RP.

I've smoked several different versions of the Old World Reserve. The stock that was going to be released in Dec 2005. Which was scrapped for the new blend that is out now. If anyone has seen the RP "Square", that is the first Old World Reserve blend.

Going to my 2nd RP event on the 22nd so will be interesting after winning the trip to honduras last year to his factory. As for the new OWR, I personally think in 6 months this is going to be an outstanding cigar but as of right now, its not to me. I stress the part to me. I know right now they have serious potential once they sit and rest for a time.

Yes, Sir! If you want to give me directions, please do so with more tact.

I acknowledged a slight threadjack in my post and do not appreciate the shrewdness of your statement.

It's ok guys! Threadjack happen. It wasn;t an intentional hijack, just an RP thread in general where people who enjoy RP may be able to give insight.

Anyway, does anyone know where most of the big name factories are in Hondruas? Next time I go there I Am going to making some roadtrips! Bring back MASS quantities and gift gift gift!

Anything in the 60 ring size seems to intimidate me for some reason.

I have been itching to try the 1990 in the 60 but can;t bring myself to.

Nah, the thread was about the Old World Reserve. Leeroy has a good point. It was just his approach that did not settle well with me. No biggie- back to your regularly scheduled thread...

The factories are at Danli, Honduras. You will find General Cigars, RP which isnt the name of his factory. For the life of me, I cant remember it. You will see a little Padron one as well which you cant go in naturally.

I'd suggest this if you want to tour RP factory and General Cigars...Find the number to RP down in florida. Give them a call and say you want to set up a tour with them. They pay for everything from Room and Board, transfer from the Airport, etc etc etc. All you pay is the Plane ticket to Honduras. You get basically almost 3 days of nothing but food, drinking, and naturally as many cigars that you can smoke in that time frame. When ya get on the bus to head out to Danli, the first thing they do is offer you beer and cigars. Only one catch tho. Absolutely NO women allowed.

As for the 6 x 60 its a good cigar. i had 2 of the 1992 Vintage before they was released while in Honduras. I was given a 1990 Vintage one as well which I saved for aging purposes. I love the 1990 line. It doesnt have a band on it either. I was given one to smoke when the B&M owner's wife had their first born. I smoked that and it was a great smoke. But its a big mother to have sticking out of the mouth.

The Nordings are not bad. I like most of the RP line. However, they are not my "go to" smokes. They are more of a mood cigar for me.

Nordings are great, imo. I do not think my local B&M would ask me to do a review on these if they did not trust my opinion....

so, I like em' Great tobacco flavor- crossbetween a fUente hemingway and a split ashton in construction. Good, good good!

I am waiting lerroy since you have so much to say - to reply to me or appologize.

You have had the opp to do both. You have done neither. So, either say- sorry- wrong approach, or show some nuts and say: not sorry- Fuck you-SLC.

Show me your true colors. Meaning, you do not post shit talking smack on a thread on top of my reply discounting you. So.... Leeroy... are you for real??? go ahead and give me the poor 18 yr old on crack speach- and I may feeeel sorrrrrrry for you. Anything else is plain old bullhshit. Bring it. I thought for a second that k7 was posting, but soon realized that there weren't enough "fuck" words in there for it to be him.
