    Here's the equation as simply as it can be put;

right wing religious whackos + right wing neocon republican whackos = the present admin and congressional controlling party.

And it's becoming more and more frequent that the churches are actively supporting republicans, even in classicly Democratic areas. And, republican politicians willingly associate themselves with the worst of the religious whackos. Untill that stops, and it won't unless it starts costing them elections, the repug party is the religious whackjob party.

Um, isn't that just replacing one stereotype with another?

I agree the statue is in poor taste, my post however is not. Fortunately I no longer live in that area so I don't have to look at it on a daily basis. Barry does have every right to speak on the topic, as do I. I actually agree with a lot of his political viewpoints. He's wrong on this one. To make such an assumption that the statue has anything to do with republicans is ridiculous. We all know where he stands politically and in my opinion this was just to stir up shit. I don't even mind the shit stirring if you know what you are talking about and can back it up. My original post wasn't to defend the church and their statue, it was to dispute the relationship between republicans and this church which DVM was implying.

As to the BBQ up my ass comment... no thanks I'll pass, I like my ribs dry.

Right on. I didn't even read past the first page because it's the same ol' shit.

I agree, but I can assure you the voting district that this church is in has a democratic majority(and I'm not talking simple majority).

Yeah probably, but I've lived here all my life and know that this is a heavily democratic district. I know without a doubt that it's not the work of the republicans or the religious right.

One of this churches main goals is the passing of a Constitutional Amendment banning same sex marriages. It's stated on their website.

I wonder where we keep hearing that shit from?

While we're off on this uber-mega-tangent, I thought I'd throw in a little political weirdness...

I live in Rhode Island, a very liberal state. One of our senators, Lincoln Chaffee (R) is up for reelection. This is where the republican party is being weird. As I mentioned, we are quite liberal up here and our senators tend to be the same. Chaffee has been very outspoken against the war in Iraq and many other right-of-center initiatives. Frankly, he's a Democrat in Republican clothing.

Of course, he's going to have to defend his seat against a candidate from the Democratic party. However, some nutjob republican is also trying to get his seat. And what is he attacking? He's claiming Sen. Chaffee isn't republican enough.

    This perplexes me.

There's little to no chance of a conservative republican taking that seat. I would think, then, that the republican party would have a vested interest in keeping ole' Linc in office.

I mean, sure, he's not the most conservative guy on the senate floor, but isn't it better to have one of your guys on the floor than one of theirs? It's not like politics at that level pays much attention to party lines, anyway.

I am so happy to see the generalizations, the name-calling and the stereotyping of all of us Republican/Conservatives. It only reinforces MY idea that most Dems/Libs cannot apply logic and fact to any of their argurments. All you can do is spew out emotional name-calling and vitriolic rhetoric. Your failed attempt to link all Christians/Rights to the Republican/Conservatives has failed. You managed to insult not only Republican/Conservatives, but Middle of the roaders and your breathren Leftys too. Funny, some of my best friends are Christian Democrats and they would never insult an entire group because of the actions of a few. Go back to your humi, pull out a good cigar, have a smoke and CHILL OUT!

Only one getting riled up here is you. So, as has been proven time and again by the present repugs in power, all you can do is spew your bizaro double-speak shit.

And actually, it was a very successful, and accurate, link of the repugs and religious right whack-jobs.
What you have failed to understand is, not all religious people are whack-jobs. Delusional to some degree, but not whack-jobs. There are some religious folks who don't think it's their job to force their fantasies on others. The pubes, and the rrw's can't get it into their thick neandertal skulls, that this Country's Founders wanted to keep religion and government seperate so one wouldn't have too much influence over the other. Something they had seen in Europe, and came here to escape.

When the fuck is this rapture thing going to happen? That'll be a quick way to thin out this admin.

Hehe, watching Repulicans and Democrats go at it is the best part of being an Independent...

"Democrats generalize and stereotype Conservatives because they're so stupid, they can't tie their own shoes."

    Cracks me up.
