Thread: Don Carlos

  1. Default Don Carlos

I am looking for a particular type of cigar for my husband. The label says Don Carlos Vanela. It is 4.75" long and 1/2" wide. The cigars were given to my husband by a friend of his whose dad got them at a cigar convention in Miami (I'm not sure when this was).

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

He could probably ask for guesses as to when the ray Bans I sent him will get there. Fuggin' Canada Post. That could me any time between now and who knows!!

I see you're on Sid, so I'd say he's dreaming something up right now for his 2K!!!

Thanks for the tip, but actually they don't. They don't have the Don Carlos Vanela cigars and they are out of stock on all the other Don Carlos cigars. Thanks for trying.

Give Holt's a call - here's their Don Carlos line...

The other option would be Tampa Sweethearts.

For sure I would call Tampa Sweethearts - because if they don't have it (or aren't going to get it) - NO ONE (literally) has or is going to get it.

Either of those retailers will take good care of you - and are very good at answering questions.

BTW - I've never heard of a "Vanela" in the Fuente or Don Carlos line... The width is hard to figure out from what you gave us. 1/2" diameter is not the standard way it's done. 1/2" equates to somewhere around a 40 ring gauge. The closest I see in the Don Carlos line is the No. 3 (5 1/2" length X 44 ring gauge). Vitola in that range is sometimes referred to as a "Lonsdale" or "Pantella". I'm almost willing to bet you that's what he had.

And, BTW, the Don Carlos line is fantastic!!!

    Hope that helps...

there are 7 sizes in the afdc line...
    torpedo
    corona
    petit corona
    robusto
    dbl robusto
    toro
belicoso.........nothing "vanela" or "vanilla"...you might want to look at the band...or perhaps post a pic of the band...

if you're looking for a flavored cigar, you're NOT looking for an arturo fuente don carlos..

Well there is the lanceros but that was in the gift set which is just absolutely a fantastic cigar. All Don Carlos tend to be good from my experience. And yes, I know where there is 5 gift sets of the Don Carlos line but at around $130 a pop, I will wait.

Thank you for your post. I found out yesterday that it is not an Autero Fuente Don Carlos. It has a different band. I will take a picture later and post it. I have not seen this band before. My husband has one of these cigars left and did not want to smoke it until he could find some more. Thanks for trying!
