I think the Eagles of Death Metal has a lot of the same people as well. Haven't heard of Homme's. Another good one I just thought of in that category is Fu Manchu/Nebula.Originally Posted by heftysmokes

Sorry, you must have misunderstood. My wording was a bit fucked up. When i referred to Homme, I meant Josh Homme, the lead singer and quitar player for QOTSA and Kyuss. He's the drummer for Eagles of Death Metal and does a little vocals and guitar, too.Originally Posted by WhiteWidow

ok, well, some I listed may not be considered rock.
I know what ya mean on the Springsteen and U2 Sid - I think radio kills them. But, very few can turn a lyric like Bono.
Here's a rock album for ya: J Geils Band, Blow Your Face Out. I wore one of these out.
Others: BTO, Not Fragile
Allman Brothers Eat A Peach

Genesis A Trick of the Tail, Selling England by the Pound
Rush 2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres
Supertramp Even in the Quietest Moments, Crime of the Century
Yes Close to the Edge, Fragile
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King
The Who Who's Next, Who by Numbers, Quadrophenia
Steely Dan The Royal Scam, Can't Buy a Thrill, Aja
Police Ghost in the Machine, Synchronicity
Talking Heads Fear of Music, Little Creatures, Stop Making Sense
REM Murmur, Out of Time
Brian Eno Another Green World, Before and After Science
Beatles Sgt. Pepper, Abbey Road, Magical Mystery Tour
I have "The Cars" set up as its own playlist on my iPod. I can listen to that album straight thru anytime.

Sorry to chime in again on this thread. Well, not really...
...I love Mother Love Bone. A band (without drugs and death) that would have made it big time. These guys were the real deal in terms of "feel good" metal in it's purest sense. Even though surviving members went onto bigger and better things during the early -to- mid 90's grunge thing; one cannot overlook the influence of Mother Love Bone and Green River on music as a whole. Hanoi Rocks fits in this same category even though they lack the substance of MLB.
Basil, you continue to surprise me.

I tend to remember songs, not albums. Anyway, now that I have a new PC at home, and am getting an MP3 player, I can finally start filling it up with music that I have downloaded and y'all have given me a lot of things to check out once I start gong to Itunes.

CNB-
You might want to check out Napster as well. You can register a free account and listen to any music in their catalog up to 5 times for free. I like checking out some of the new groups I hear on the radio before I decide whether I'm going to plunk down cash based on one single.

Check out Limewire as well. It is similar to napster of the old days, where you just download songs instead of paying money.
