    Default I Finally Met Someone!

I was able to hook up with slcraiders last night. Being as Colorado has gone to a "smoke free" state as of July 1st, it was a bit difficult to find a place where we could light up. We ended up going to Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steak House which is just a couple of miles from where James was staying. He brought along a couple of 1926 Padrons (first time I was able to try one) and we enjoyed a couple of drinks and a couple of great cigars in the cigar lounge before dinner. James is a great guy and I really enjoyed visiting with him.

Anyone else coming out to Denver? If so, let me know.

Man oh man... ...where to begin? I just got back to Salt Lake a couple hours ago. Mark was a true gentleman and a gracious host. We had a great time herfing and sharing stories. To top things off, this bastid had to bring me a "welcome to Colorado" package consisting of ISOMs galore!

BTW- the pictures of the Shelby do not do his car justice. What a beautiful statement of machinery! The car went from 0-70 in what must have been less than 3 seconds without breaking second gear (and on an onramp to go). Very Nice!

    Thanks again Mark

I'm pretty green when it comes to anything under the hood -but seriously 70 without shifting to second? Really? WOW!

I honestly doubt that. First will only get you up to 6-7 miles, second to 40 and then we go into 3rd. But if you are a good driver and have a shelby at your disposal those 4 seconds fly by very fast and you switch quite easily

6-7 MPH in first? That must have been a typo. My pickup will do that in 4WD low, but the shelby has so much torque it just pulls in 1st gear up to about 50. I have to say it was well worth the wait and much more than I expected. 500HP with 480 lb/ft torque from the factory. I'm hoping for about 650HP with an oversized pully, new exhaust and tune. Then we'll see after that.

I am green also in this area. When I write- "without breaking second gear", I mean he had not shifted into third yet. I am serious, and second gear did not even sound like it was grinding.

    Mark,

Perhaps you could elaborate here... ...or at least set me straight if my passenger side perspective and view of the speedometer were off?

Well, It might have seemed faster in the right seat. I did hit 2nd at about 50 and brought it to about 70, but I would say 0-60 time is below 4.5. I'm taking it to the track next Wednesday to get some baseline times, then my son has some ideas for my checkbook.

James, it was a pleasure meeting you. Hope your flight back was good. Hopefully your business will bring you back this way.

I need to drum up some business in Denver...

Incidentally - my shock at the 70mph at 2nd gear comes from my first car - 1980 Volkswagon Rabbit. First gear probably took me up to 5 mph, 2nd @ 15, 3rd @ 35, and 4th @ 55... about two minutes later (and that was me rocking back and forth)...
