    Default How much???

    Hey all-
It looks as if I'll be purchasing tickets to see the Rolling Stones in October. The kicker is, tickets run approximately 60, 100, and 160 per. I'll be forking out the 100 each, one for me and one for my dad. I can't believe I'm going to pay that much for a ticket, but the Stones qualify as a "gotta see them before it's too late," at least in my book.

It brings me to the question, how much would you be wlling to pay to see a concert, and who would it be?

I havent been to a concert in YEARS mostly due to the fact that they are usually overpriced for the expirience you get. It would be awesome to see alot of these bands, but I usually cant afford the prices. The prices I can afford usually mean sitting with the morons that just are there to get drunk and do stupid shit that I dont want to deal with when I pay good money to see a band and hear good music.

I'd rather just go to a show (concert but in a smaller venue like a bar or any place that fits under a 500 people), and for that $35 is my max. Unless its someone like The Roots or P Funk, then its $45. For a concert, I dont know. I feel like I might as well go watch the DVD of it since all the seats I've had have been the cheap ones(so i guess I may not be the right demograph for you) and I'm so far away. However I'd pay the money for a Buffett ticket, if I could ever get one.

Good move on the Stones. A band of that stature is def worth the $100 per. To be honest I am used to these prices here in NYC. The band I would pay for the most to see would be Pink Floyd if they do a tour by some miracle, would pay up to $300 to see them

I would spend like $50-100 to go to a good festival. For a regular concert I try to keep it in the $20-35 range. I won't spend $200 to see the Eagles because I know that is just Don Henley being an idiot.

I do know how much I will pay for a CD and that is $0.
    End of line.

I will go to just about any concert there is. I love live music, but most of the bands I see don't have any seats out for you. General admission for the win! When I was in VA I drove through crazy traffic for over 6 hours to get to Philly to see 5 bands for $15. We missed 3 of them. It was still worth the 15 though 'cause I got to see Demon Hunter.

    Rambling....

Uhhhh, oh yeah. I would pay $100 to see the Stones. That would just be sweet.
Edit: I just thought about this... are you going to the show in Missoula? I think that's the closest one to me. I have no money but I think they're giving tickets away on the radio. Maybe I'll see you there!

I paid $175.00 per ticket for my wife and I to see Merle Haggard and the Strangers at a New Years Eve show in 2001. This was at a very old and quaint theatre that maybe seated 150 people. He played for 3 1/2 hours- well worth it! Long live Hag!!!

The only other living act that I would pay this much to see would be Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse and it would have to be under similar conditions.

I guess if I wanted to see an act, athelete or speaker money wouldn't be an issue in most cases. Turn the question around. If you absolutely hated an act, would you go for free? I wouldn't. Life is a series of experiences and if people feel something is worth experiencing then the cost is usually secondary. 100 bucks to see the Stones? Sure, if I wanted to. I spend that much for a couple of tanks of gas, and routinely spend as much for a good dinner and a night out. Money is only worth what it can be exchanged for.

I had the pleasure of seeing Drive-by Truckers up in Park City on Friday night. Amazing fucking show. I take back my previous statement and would easily pay twice the cost of any Stones show to see this band again (they covered the Stones on two songs, btw). I have been to at least 300 concerts and this has to rank in the top 5! 3 plus hours of pure rock. Went back to our hotel at 2am still wired and ready for more.

I am pretty spoiled living so close to both of the casino's and yet I never take advantage of any of the talent coming my way in Ct. I get Free tickets and the wolf den has free entrainment every night. One night they had Rascal flats playing there free. All in all for me it would be where I was sitting. If i could have a table right up front or the baloney booth I pay 200 a ticket for a number of people I want to see. Toby Keith Trace Akins ,Tim McGraw those are the men I like. Bonjovi Ohhhhh Kid rock and Hank Williams in one of those small unplug concerts I pay $300.00 Then again I do not have that expensive cigar habit.

    Default Ticketbastard

Just ordered my tickets this morning, and I have to say that Ticketmaster is the most evil, rotten motherfuckers I've ever dealt with...they're like the used car salesmen of the entertainment industry.

    2 tickets.....$98 each

"convenience charge".....$17.50 X 2 ???? WTF is a "convenience charge"??? It's certainly not convenient for my wallet. I figured it was just a fancy way to say "processing charge."

But wait a minute....the next line says-- "Processing charge" $4.60. Holy fucking shit! Are you kidding me?

But hey, I did get free "standard mail" shipping for my tickets. I could have chosen UPS 3-day select shipping to get the tickets, but that would have been $17.60!

Absolutely fucking ridiculous. $235 for 2 tickets to the Rolling Stones. For that kind of money, Mick should be tying me off while Keith gets the needle ready.

On the other hand, I called my dad and let him know that he was going to see the Rolling Stones, and I'm pretty sure it made his year.

lol, good job on the tickets.

The stones are playing here in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada for the first time ever!

Tickets sold out in under 5 minutes (all 20some odd thousand of them). So they decided to make a weekend out of it and play 2 shows.

I remember when the local rock station announced the tour and they were so excited that they were doing stops in "smaller venues" like Regina. Motley Crue had to do the same thing a few years back, they played here 3 times that year I think.

I saw Toby Keith live for free back when I worked at the arena in town. I was in one of the concession booths close to the stage. Met him backstage after. Cool guy. I listen to country pretty sparsely, but he puts on a good show.

Okay, finally got my pics resized and added to photobucket.
    So, without further ado....

This pic is during the opening act, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who I am really digging on lately...

Here come the Stones- the stage was heated and covered. (the hand in the bottom left of the pic was a nice touch!)

Between sets-You can see in these pics the huge video screen, over 60 ft high...VIP's were in the walkways/light bars to the left and right of the screen

    Keith-

    Mick-

The long runway that ran up the middle of the crowd was actually a track where a portion of the stage lifted and moved so pretty much everybody got a close up for a bit-

The forked tongue at the end of "Sympathy For The Devil"-

    The encore-

    Stones wow with sensory overload
    By JACI WEBB
    Of The Gazette Staff

The moon hovered over Missoula's Washington-Grizzly Stadium Wednesday night, the planets aligned, and the Rolling Stones came out rocking, guitars blazing and Mick Jagger strutting to "Jumpin' Jack Flash."

You didn't even have to be a Stones fan to appreciate the pyrotechnics, 100-foot-high video screens and six-story set. It was like Disneyland, Las Vegas and the Fourth of July combined with the best rock show imaginable. The sensory overload was enough to fill your head for weeks to come.

Don Casey, a Billings school librarian, said no other live show he's been to compares with seeing the Rolling Stones perform in his hometown.

"It's much more than I expected," Casey said. "I've gone to football games at the stadium and just seeing the transformation into a concert venue was just amazing." The word is that the Stones were so energized for the Missoula show because they'd spent Tuesday fishing the Blackfoot River. Jagger told the audience, "I shot an elk. Don't worry, I'll put it back."

Then Keith Richards, struggling for a moment to speak when he got to the microphone, said, "This is new territory for me. I've been a lot of places, but I've never been here. It's real pretty, think I'll move in."

Rockin' Rudy's manager, Kelly Archibald-Wilson, said later that Richards can move in next door to him anytime. Archibald-Wilson, who has seen the Rolling Stones five times, said the Missoula show was the best yet, partially because it was in Montana under a nearly full moon.

With a floor seat, Archibald-Wilson stood just inches away from Jagger, who several times reached into the crowd to shake hands.

"At one moment, I know Mick and I made eye contact," Archibald-Wilson said.

The Missoula show was presented at the smallest venue on the Stones' world tour, "The Bigger Bang." The stadium was filled to capacity with 21,000 fans ranging from grade school students to senior citizens. Gov. Brian Schweitzer and Lt. Gov. John Bohlinger took in the show from University of Montana president George Dennison's box. Schweitzer originally planned to mingle with the crowd during the concert, but the Stones' management prohibited it for security reasons.

Before the concert, thousands of people gathered at Missoula's Caras Park in a pre-show party and hundreds of people flocked to Rockin' Rudy's to buy T-shirts and Stones memorabilia before the show. Rockin' Rudy's sold out of the T-shirts the store designed and printed that read "Stones Rock Missoula."

"I had people in here from all over - Georgia, California - looking for anything with The Stones on it," Archibald-Wilson said.

The Stones didn't hit their full stride until after guitarist Richards sang his two songs - "Little T&A" and "You Got the Silver" - in the middle of their two-hour-set. In all, the Stones ran through 19 songs, highlighted by an extended jam on "Midnight Rambler" and a very hot "Start Me Up" with twin 40-foot flames shooting into the sky from each side of the stage. Jagger donned a sparkly red top hat and jacket for "Sympathy for the Devil" and the 100-foot screens projected images of a naked black woman cuddling with the Taj Mahal, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the Eiffel Tower during "Brown Sugar." The visual is so sensual that the Rolling Stones were banned from performing the song in China.

To judge from the set lists at other venues during this tour, it's clear the Rolling Stones don't always perform "Can't Always Get What you Want," but they nailed it as their first encore number in Missoula. For the second encore, Jagger sprinted toward the second stage, never missing a beat of "Satisfaction" as he ran. Two sweat-soaked body guards ran after him on either side of the ramp, struggling to keep up with the 63-year-old singer.

"I see why they're still touring after 40 years," Ken Kindelman, of Billings, said.

"They put so much into performing and they put on an amazing show."

    "...all roads lead to cigars."

i would pay Eleventy Billion Dollars to see Sufjan Stevens, Death Cab for Cutie, Anathallo, The Format, Further Seems Forever (RIP), Saves the Day, and Waking the Cadaver.

I think they're all trying to put together a tour sometime soon. I believe I heard Metallica is opening up for them.

for a good laugh, go give waking the cadaver a listen...

I'd spend as much as neccasary.

I paid $630 for two tickets to stand dead center 2nd row to see Jack Johnson, Willie Nelson, Ben Harper & ALO in Hawaii this April. Normally I'd cap that to around $150 for a festival but this all went to the Kokua Foundation of Hawaii, so I didn't mind it.

You guys/gals should check out the Beale Street Music festival, its the first weekend of may every year. Costs $48 for 3 days of music. Well worth the 5 hr drive every year.
    Memphis In May

I got to experience BB King, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Puddle of Mudd, Jason Mraz, Cake, Huey Lewis & The News, George Clinton, Jerry Lee Lewis, Gin Blossoms, Yonder Mountain String Band, Blues Traveler, Chicago, Govt Mule, & Galatic this year for only $48.

Last year I got to jam out to Jack Johnson, Trey Anastasio, Ozomatli, Nickel Creek, Michael Tolcher, Los Lonely Boys, Jerry Lee Lewis, K.C. & the Sunshine Band, Spin Doctors, Particle, Tesla, The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Elvis Costello, The Roots, Billy Idol, & War.

I've been 5 years running and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Need to age some nice smokes for 2007!
